The Campeonato Brasileiro de Seleções Estaduais was a Brazilian football tournament contested by state teams. It was Brazil's most important football competition until the 1950s. Arthur Friedenreich (18 July 1892 – 6 September 1969) was a Brazilian professional footballer who played as a forward. He was nicknamed ''The Tiger'' or ''The Original "Black" Pearl'', and was arguably the sport's first outstanding mixed-race player. Manoel Nunes
Manoel Nunes (March 7, 1895 – May 31, 1977), also known as Neco, was an association football midfielder. With great skill and tenacity, he was the first idol of Corinthians, being the first player to get a statue in the team's gardens (in 1929). As of 2006, Neco is the player who played the longest for Corinthians: 17 years. Called often to the Brazilian national team, he won two South American Championships: 1919 (team's top scorer) and 1922 (top scorer). Nilo Murtinho Braga, best known as ''Nilo'' (April 3, 1903 – February 7, 1975) was an association footballer in forward striker role. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During his career (1918–1937) he played for América-RN, Fluminense and Botafogo. Petronilho de Brito(31 May 1904 – 1983/4), was an association footballer who played forward, and who played for the Brazil national team. He died about 1983 or 1984, in São Paulo. Club career Born in São Paulo, Petronilho de Brito spent most of his career defending clubs of that city. He played for Antárctica-SP, Minas Gerais-SP, Sírio-SP and Independência-SP, winning the Campeonato Brasileiro de Seleções Estaduais in 1926, representing the state of São Paulo, and being awarded as the competition's top goalscorer with 13 goals, before moving to San Lorenzo of Argentina in 1930.
