Campbell Forsyth
Robert Campbell Forsyth (5 May 193415 November 2020) was a Scottish footballer, who played as a goalkeeper for St Mirren, Kilmarnock and Southampton. He also made four international appearances for Scotland, all in 1964. Football career Early career Born in Plean, then in Stirlingshire, Forsyth was briefly a trainee at nearby Falkirk before joining Junior Football club Shettleston from the east end of Glasgow. He joined St Mirren in April 1955, shortly before his 16th birthday, where he stayed for five years, making over 100 first-team appearances. In 1957 he played his one and only game for the Scotland national under-23 football team, a 1–1 draw with England. Kilmarnock In November 1960, he joined Kilmarnock; at the end of his first season with "Killie", the club gained the runners-up position in the Scottish League Division One. Plean
Plean is a village, in the Stirling council area of central Scotland, located on the main A9 road from Falkirk. At the 2001 census, Plean had a population of 1,740. Plean has some historic buildings, some council houses and an estate. Landmarks Plean has a Church of Scotland Church with an attached graveyard, a petrol station, chip shop, a small clinic, small library pub, pharmacy, bakers, Indian takeaway and 3 convenience stores. East Plean Primary School was formerly housed in a traditional building dating from 1874. Many of the original features of the building were retained in the refurbishment of the school, which was completed in summer 2000, including the addition of a purpose-built nursery. The school building was damaged beyond repair in November 2010 when a fire was deliberately started in a hut to the rear. Edric Thornton Bates MBE (3 May 1918 – 28 November 2003) was a former Southampton F.C. player, manager, director and president which earned him the sobriquet ''Mr. Southampton''. Ted was the son of Eddie Bates, who played cricket for Yorkshire and Glamorgan and football for Bolton Wanderers and Leeds United. He was the grandson of Billy Bates who was one of the finest all-rounders for England in the early years of international cricket. Bill Brown (Scottish Footballer)
William Dallas Fyfe Brown (8 October 1931 – 30 November 2004) was a Scottish football goalkeeper. Brown played for Dundee between 1949 and 1959, and for Tottenham Hotspur between 1959 and 1966. He was part of the Spurs team that won the Double of Football League and FA Cup in 1961 - the first club to achieve the feat in the 20th century. He was also capped 28 times for the Scotland national team. Career Dundee Brown played as a youth for Carnoustie Panmure. He started his senior career with Dundee as a teenager and made over 200 appearances in the Scottish Football League. Tottenham Hotspur Brown was signed in 1959 for £16,500 to Tottenham Hotspur in June 1959. Alan Gilzean
Alan John Gilzean (; 22 October 1938 – 8 July 2018) was a Scottish professional footballer, active from 1955 to 1975. A striker, Gilzean played most prominently for Dundee and Tottenham Hotspur, and also appeared in 22 international games for Scotland. He helped Dundee win the Scottish league championship in 1961–62 and Tottenham win the FA Cup in 1967, two League Cups (1971 and 1973) and the 1971–72 UEFA Cup. He died on 8 July 2018 after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. Playing career Dundee Gilzean began his career with local side Coupar Angus Juniors, before signing provisional forms with Dundee in January 1956 as a 17-year-old amateur. Lothar Schämer (28 April 1940 – 27 December 2017) was a German professional footballer who played as a defender. Schämer played his entire professional career at Eintracht Frankfurt. In the 1963–64 season, he was part of the Frankfurt squad that debuted in the new founded Bundesliga scoring the first goal with a penalty against 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
