Camp Cable
Camp Cable, Australia was a World War II army training base near Logan Village, Queensland, Australia. The base was first known as Camp Tamborine but renamed in honour of Sergeant Gerald O. Cable. Constructed in 1942 for the United States Army Forces in Australia (USAFIA), initially for the 32nd Infantry Division (United States), 32nd Infantry "Red Arrow" Division (United States) preparing for the New Guinea campaign, the base was occupied by various units during the war. Part of the base was an area south of the Albert River (Queensland), Albert River for the 155th Station Hospital. Camp related entertainment was both local and from overseas. A picture theatre and tennis courts were built near the base Headquarters. American comedian Joe E. Brown performed at the 155th Station Hospital in 1943. 32nd Infantry Division (United States)
The United States 32nd Infantry Division was formed from Army National Guard units from Wisconsin and Michigan and fought primarily during World War I and World War II. With roots as the Iron Brigade in the American Civil War, the division's ancestral units came to be referred to as the ''Iron Jaw Division''. During tough combat in France in World War I, it soon acquired from the French the nickname ''Les Terribles'', referring to its fortitude in advancing over terrain others could not. It was the first allied division to pierce the German Hindenburg Line of defense, and the 32nd then adopted its shoulder patch; a line shot through with a red arrow, to signify its tenacity in piercing the enemy line. Canungra is a rural town and locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Canungra had a population of 1,229 people.
