Camilla (1954 Film)
''Camilla'' is a List of Italian films of 1954, 1954 Cinema of Italy, Italian comedy-drama film directed by Luciano Emmer. Plot Camilla Busin, a middle-aged Venetian widow, arrives in Rome to take up service as a maid for the Rossetti family, consisting of Mario, a health care physician, his wife Giovanna and their children Andrea and Cristina. The economic conditions of the Rossetti are not prosperous and this causes tensions and disagreements. Furthermore, the Rossettis hang out with Gianni, an intrusive, rude family friend who is often involved in unclear affairs, who lives without being married with the succubus Donatella. Mario tries to advance his career by preparing an exam to obtain a more remunerative qualification, but his studies are listless and are made difficult by family tensions, caused by the difficulty of maintaining the desired standard of living. Luciano Emmer
Luciano Emmer (19 January 1918 – 16 September 2009) was an Italian film director. He was born in Milan, but most of his childhood lived in Venice. He started as filmmaker at filming Giotto's frescoes in Padua in 1938. Screenwriter Sergio Amidei, found the finance for Emmer to make a feature about Romans spending a Sunday in August on the beach at Ostia. He won a Golden Globe in 1951 for '' Pictura: An Adventure in Art''. He has directed more documentaries than fiction pictures, most notably ''Domenica d'agosto'' and the romance-comedy-drama '' Three Girls from Rome''. Luciano Emmer started his career as a filmmaker working with Enrico Gras. He founded the production company Dolomiti Film and directed several documentaries. Luciana Angiolillo
Luciana Angiolillo (22 December 1925 – 30 November 2014) was an Italian actress and model, known for her career in peplum classic films. Life and career Born Luciana Nevi in Rome, Angiolillo started her career as a runway model. She made her film debut thanks to the friendship of Ennio Flaiano, who suggested her to the director Luciano Emmer for the role of an upper class lady in '' Camilla''. From then she appeared in a number of films, often in stereotypal roles of snobbish bourgeois ladies. Gradually relegated to secondary roles, Angiolillo eventually devoted herself to the direction of a fashion house owned by her. Angiolillo died on November 30, 2014. Franco Fabrizi (; 15 February 1916 – 18 October 1995) was an Italian actor. Life and career Son of a barber and a cinema cashier, Franco Fabrizi started his career as a model and an actor in fotoromanzi. Fabrizi also starred on several revues and stage works, then he debuted on the big screen with a supporting role in '' Chronicle of a Love'' (''Cronaca di un amore'') (1950), Michelangelo Antonioni's long film debut. Ennio Flaiano (5 March 1910 – 20 November 1972) was an Italian screenwriter, playwright, novelist, journalist, and drama critic. Best known for his work with Federico Fellini, Flaiano co-wrote ten screenplays with the Italian director, including ''La Strada'' (1954), '' La Dolce Vita'' (1960), and '' 8½''. Biography Flaiano wrote for ''Cineillustrato'', '' Oggi'', '' Il Mondo'', '' Il Corriere della Sera'', '' Omnibus'' and other prominent Italian newspapers and magazines.
