The Cambridge University Law Society (also known as "CULS" or "LawSoc") is the educational and representative body of undergraduate law students at the University of Cambridge. Founded in 1901, and with an estimated 2,000 active members, it is the largest United Kingdom student-led law society and among the largest student-run law societies in the world. It founded the Cambridge Law Journal as a student publication in 1921, today the longest-running university law journal in the United Kingdom and the principal publication of the Faculty of Law, Cambridge. It is known for its ''Speakers'' events featuring prominent lawyers, politicians and legal celebrities. It also publishes the ''Cambridge Law Review'' and organises the annual University of Cambridge Law Ball, one of the University's most prominent events outside May Week. William Buckland
William Buckland DD, FRS (12 March 1784 – 14 August 1856) was an English theologian who became Dean of Westminster. He was also a geologist and palaeontologist. Buckland wrote the first full account of a fossil dinosaur, which he named '' Megalosaurus''. His work proved that Kirkdale Cave in North Yorkshire had been a prehistoric hyena den, for which he was awarded the Copley Medal. It was praised as an example of how scientific analysis could reconstruct distant events. He pioneered the use of fossilised faeces in reconstructing ecosystems, coining the term coprolites. Buckland followed the Gap Theory in interpreting the biblical account of ''Genesis'' as two widely separated episodes of creation. Peter Oliver, Baron Oliver Of Aylmerton
Peter Raymond Oliver, Baron Oliver of Aylmerton, PC (7 March 1921 – 17 October 2007) was a British judge and barrister. Oliver was born in Cambridge, where his father, David Thomas Oliver, was a professor of law and fellow of Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He was educated at The Leys School, Cambridge and Trinity Hall, Cambridge, graduating with a starred First in law in 1941. He later became an honorary fellow of Trinity Hall, and became University Commissary. From 1941 to 1945, he served in the 12th Battalion Royal Tank Regiment, and was mentioned in dispatches during his service in Italy. He was Honorary President of the Cambridge University Law Society. Cyril Salmon, Baron Salmon
Cyril Barnet Salmon, Baron Salmon PC (28 December 1903 – 7 November 1991) was a British judge. Early life and career Cyril Barnet Salmon was the son of Montagu Salmon (1878-1943), tobacco merchant, and Marian Nina Trevor, née Abrahams, his wife. He was the grandson of Barnett Salmon (1829-1897) co-founder of Salmon & Gluckstein, tobacco merchants. He was educated at Mill Hill School and Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he read Law. He was called to the bar by the Middle Temple in 1925, and was the pupil of Walter Monckton, before joining the chambers of Lord Wright at 5 Crown Office. During World War II, Salmon was commissioned into the Royal Artillery in 1940, and was attached to the Eighth Army as a judge advocate. He ended the war with the rank of major. Simon Deakin (born 26 March 1961) is Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law, Cambridge, and a Fellow of Peterhouse, Cambridge. He is regarded as the leading expert in the field of employment law and labour law and is the programme director in the Cambridge Centre for Business Research (CBR), as well as an associate Faculty member of the Judge Business School. Sir John Grant McKenzie Laws (10 May 1945 – 5 April 2020) was a Lord Justice of Appeal. He served from 1999 to 2016. He was the Goodhart Visiting Professor of Legal Science at the University of Cambridge, and an Honorary Fellow of Robinson College, Cambridge. S Club Allstars (previously known as S Club 3) are an English spin-off pop group based in London with S Club 7 and S Club 8 former members. Originally, the group was founded by Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara and Paul Cattermole. In February 2014, Tina Barrett joined them and the group, but in May 2015, Cattermole left the group after the S Club 7 reunion.
