Camborne Town Band
Camborne Town Band has a contest record from the late 19th century until the present day. It has been a local Championship band since its formation and on the National stage since the 1920s. Having won the National Second Section Championship in 1945 it was promoted to the Championship Section the following year-–a position it has retained ever since, having been placed in the top six in the country on six occasions. In 2006 it again qualified to represent the South-West at the National Finals–-the fifth time in six years. Its success at the West of England Bandsmen's Festival (Bugle Contest) since the first contest, in 1912, is remarkable. Perhaps the unique atmosphere of the event inspires the band; certainly the sound of "The Cossack" on the upward march is very evocative. Brass Band Sections In The United Kingdom
There are five main brass band sections in the United Kingdom: Championship, First, Second, Third, and Fourth. Sometimes, a Youth section is also used, but this is not graded. Championship section This is the section containing the very best bands in the United Kingdom who compete in the Open and National Brass Band Championships, established in 1853 and 1860 respectively. Bands such aCory Band Black Dyke, Brighouse and Rastrick, Fairey and Grimethorpe are placed in here. A few of these have professional or semi-professional players, but the contest has always been designed towards amateur musicians. The test pieces set for or commissioned by this section are extremely difficult and use complicated musical conventions and techniques to challenge the musicians. Camborne
Camborne ( kw, Kammbronn) is a town in Cornwall, England. The population at the 2011 Census was 20,845. The northern edge of the parish includes a section of the South West Coast Path, Hell's Mouth and Deadman's Cove. Camborne was formerly one of the richest tin mining areas in the world and home to the Camborne School of Mines. Toponymy Craig Weatherhill explains Camborne thus: "''Cambron'' c. 1100 - 1816) Cambron, ?'crook-hill')" Kammbronn is Cornish for 'crooked hill'. The word 'kamm', crooked, is the same in the Breton language, and the Welsh, Gaelic and Irish Gaelic word is 'cam'. 'Hill' in Welsh is 'bryn'. Geography Camborne is in the western part of the largest urban and industrial area in Cornwall with the town of Redruth east. BBC Television

Hall For Cornwall
Hall for Cornwall, known as Truro City Hall until 1997, is an events venue in Boscawen Street in Truro, Cornwall, England. The building, which was previously the headquarters of Truro City Council, is a Grade II* listed building. History The first municipal building in Truro was a 17th-century market house, which was arcaded on the ground floor so that markets could be held, with an assembly hall on the first floor. It was replaced with a more substantial structure in 1809 but when that was also found to be inadequate, civic leaders commissioned a new building on the same site in the early 1840s.
