Cambio (magazine)
''Cambio'' ( es, Change) is a Colombian-based social, political and economics magazine. Founded with the name ''Cambio 16'' it was later sold and ''Cambio'' in 1998 to nobel laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez and other associates. In 2006 the magazine was sold to "Casa Editorial El Tiempo", the owner of Colombia's '' El Tiempo'' newspaper. The magazine ceased publication in February 2010. ''Cambio'' returned to publication in 2022 in a digital-only format; people who have collaborated with it include Carolina Sanín. History ''Cambio'' was founded as ''Cambio 16 América'' by Colombian journalist Daniel Samper Pizano and Spanish associates called the "sociedad empresarial española "Grupo 16"" who owned the ''Cambio 16'' version of this magazine in Spain and were trying to establish a second major weekly magazine in Colombia to compete with ''Semana''. A news magazine is a typed, printed, and published magazine, radio or television program, usually published weekly, consisting of articles about current events. Semana
''Semana'' (Spanish: ''Week'') is a weekly magazine in Colombia. History ''Semana'' was founded in 1946 by Alberto Lleras Camargo (who would become president of Colombia in 1958) and that folded in 1961. It was relaunched by journalist Felipe López Caballero in 1983. Development , the person who restarted the magazine, took two earlier Colombian magazines as models. One was Camargo's ''Semana''; the other was '' :es:Alternativa'', a left-wing weekly published by Enrique Santos and Gabriel García Márquez. The foreign magazines that he strove to imitate were ''Time'' and ''Newsweek''. Recalling the prestige that had been enjoyed by Lleras's magazine, López asked for, and was given, permission to use the same name. The first issue came out on 12 May 12 1982. Mass is an intrinsic property of a body. It was traditionally believed to be related to the quantity of matter in a physical body, until the discovery of the atom and particle physics. It was found that different atoms and different elementary particles, theoretically with the same amount of matter, have nonetheless different masses. Mercedes Raquel Barcha Pardo (November 6, 1932 – August 15, 2020) was the wife of novelist Gabriel García Márquez (1927–2014). Life Barcha was born on November 6, 1932, in Magangué, Colombia. Barcha is best known for her financial and emotional support of her Nobel Prize-winning husband, the author Gabriel García Márquez. She met García Márquez in 1941 and they married in Barranquilla in 1958. The couple had two children, including director Rodrigo García. Juan Tomás De Salas
Juan Tomás de Salas (1938–2000) was a Spanish journalist. He was born in Valladolid on April 30, 1938, and died in Madrid on 22 August 2000. He was the founder of ''Cambio 16'' and ''Diario 16''. In the 1960s he also worked for the Colombian newspaper ''El Tiempo (Colombia), El Tiempo''. Education and exile De Salas studied law in Madrid and obtained a PhD in Economic History at La Sorbonne in Paris. During his youth he also showed enthusiasm for journalism and interest in political activism. He began to engage in anti-Francoist Spain, Francoist activities, and in 1961 joined the Free Spanish Press Agency, associated with the People's Liberation Front. In 1962, when police arrested nearly a hundred members of the organization, de Salas had to seek political asylum. He managed to take refuge in the embassy of Colombia in Spain, and moved to Bogotá.
