St Joseph's GAA (Laois)
St Joseph's GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association Gaelic football club in County Laois, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It won nine Laois Senior Football Championship titles between 1973 and 2000. The club colours are yellow with blue trim and the main club grounds are located at Kellyville with a secondary grounds at Milltown. History Founded in 1954 as an underage club, it won the Laois minor and junior football titles in 1967, the minor title again in 1968, the Laois Intermediate Football Championship in 1969 and a further junior title in 1976. Then St Joseph's progressed to win nine Laois Senior Football Championship titles: in 1973, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1983, 1989, 1994, 1996 and 2000. As well as this, the club (in an amalgamation with Barrowhouse GAA, Barrowhouse) won the Under-21 Championship in 2008, 2011, 2015 and 2016. St Joseph's GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club that fields gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. It is based in the County Louth, Louth village of Dromiskin, near the county town of Dundalk. As of 2023, the club competes in the Louth Senior Football Championship, Louth Senior Championship and Division 2 of the county football Leagues. History The club was founded in 1961 when members of the two GAA clubs in the parish of Darver and Dromiskin - Darver Volunteers and Dromiskin Unknowns - decided to amalgamate. St Joseph's Doora-Barefield GAA
St Joseph's, Doora-Barefield is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in the parish of Doora Barefield, Doora-Barefield outside Ennis, County Clare, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Hurling was the more popular sport in Barefield over Gaelic football, now it's 50-50 between the both of them. Their main playing fields are in Gurteen. They have three full-size hurling and football pitches. There is also changing and showering facilities there. History Players from the club twice joined up with local rivals Éire Óg, Inis GAA, Éire Óg, Ennis to form the Ennis Faughs football team. Both clubs were competing at lower levels at the time so it was seen as an opportunity to play senior football. St Joseph's/OCB (Irish: ''Naomh Seosamh, BUC'') are an amateur athletic club located in the North Inner city of Dublin, Ireland. They are the last remaining Gaelic Athletic Association club in the area. The club is an amalgamation of two clubs: St Joseph's of East Wall and O’Connell Boys of North Wall. St Joseph's were founded in 1918 and rose to prominence, especially in the 1920s and 1930s, albeit with intermittent objections; St Joseph's also produced a continuing stream of inter-county players. O’Connell Boys were established in 1964, as a club for the former members of the O’Connell Boys Youth Club in Seville Place, Dublin. However, changes to the inner city in the latter half of the 20th century – population decline, unemployment, and school closings – caused a corresponding decline in membership for both clubs. Ederney St Joseph's GAC
Ederney St Joseph's is a Gaelic football club based in the village of Ederney, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. History The club was first founded in May 1929, and went through various incarnations before winning their first Fermanagh Senior Football Championship title in 1968, beating Newtownbutler by 3–7 to 2–6. In 2004, Martin McGrath became Ederney's first All Star. Ederney reached the county finals in both 2006 and 2018, losing heavily to Enniskillen Gaels and Derrygonnelly Harps respectively. After a fifty-two year wait the club finally added its second senior championship in 2020, beating Derrygonnelly 2–8 to 1–6 in the final. Glenelly St Joseph's ''( ga, Gleann Eallaigh Naoimh Seosaimh)'' is a Gaelic Athletic Association club. The club is based in Plumbridge, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland and serves the parish of Badoney Upper, which includes the villages of Plumbridge and Cranagh. The club concentrates on Gaelic football, with ladies Gaelic football also provided for. The men's senior team in 2017 will compete in Division 3 of the Tyrone All-County Football League and will play in the Tyrone Junior Football Championship. Originally the park was named ''Miltown Malbay Athletic Grounds'', until its renaming on 20 May 1951. The club began leasing the grounds in 1924 from the mother of president Patrick Hillery for a period of 150 years at a rate of £15 per year. St Joseph's Gaelic Football Club was a Gaelic football club in County Donegal, Ireland. History The club was formed in 1963 from the merger of Aodh Ruadh, based in Ballyshannon, and Réalt na Mara, based in Bundoran. Brian McEniff explained in 2013 that St Joseph's was formed when the clubs in the two towns "were doing rather poorly. In spite of the great rivalry, they came together. The bonding factor was the De La Salle College in the upper part of our parish. The De La Salle Brothers ran a very good school. There were no more than 200 boys but they could play well above their lot. It was a great GAA school. All of the boys — except myself, I went to a boarding school in Monaghan — were from De La Salle. It was a natural transition".
