Calnali, Mexico
Calnali is a town and one of the 84 municipalities of Hidalgo, in central-eastern Mexico. The municipality covers an area of 190.2 km². Calnali is a Nahuatl name meaning ''house on the other side of the river''. As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 15,815. The ''cabecera'' or municipal seat is primarily ''mestizo'', while the outlying communities (including Papatlatla, Tula, Atempa, and Ahuacatlan) are heavily populated by Nahuatl-speaking indigenous people. The town's tianguis is held every Sunday morning in the central plaza and surrounding streets. Despite its small size, Calnali is important as a regional cultural center, hosting an annual music festival featuring local ''Bandas de Viento'' and '' huapango'' performers, as well as an annual festival of indigenous culture. Hidalgo is a state in central Mexico divided into 84 municipalities. According to the 2020 Mexican Census, Hidalgo is the 16th most populous state with inhabitants and the 26th largest by land area spanning . Xiphophorus
''Xiphophorus'' is a genus of euryhaline and freshwater fishes in the family Poeciliidae of order Cyprinodontiformes, native to Mexico and northern Central America. The many ''Xiphophorus'' species are all known as platyfish (or platies) and swordtails. Platyfish formerly were classified in another genus, ''Platypoecilia'', which is now obsolete. The type species is ''X. hellerii,'' the green swordtail. Like most other new world Poeciliids, platies and swordtails are live-bearers that use internal fertilization and give birth to live young instead of laying eggs like the bulk of the world's fishes. The name ''Xiphophorus'' derives from the Greek words ξίφος (dagger) and φόρος (bearer), referring to the gonopodium on the males. Ash Wednesday is a holy day of prayer and fasting in many Western Christian denominations.
