Call Me Mister (TV Series)
''Call Me Mister'' is a British television drama series, created by Robert Banks Stewart who had previously developed '' Shoestring'' and '' Bergerac'' for the BBC. One series of ten episodes was broadcast between September and November 1986. The series starred Steve Bisley as Jack Bartholomew, an Australian former police officer who returns to England after his father dies, having inherited his substantial estate. Uncomfortable with his new found status, Bartholomew prefers to use his police skills working as a private detective. Robert Banks Stewart
Robert Banks Stewart (16 July 1931 – 14 January 2016) was a Scottish screenwriter, television producer and former journalist. He was sometimes credited as Robert Stewart early in his career. Banks Stewart contributed extensively to drama for the BBC and ITV for several decades, which included creating and producing the series ''Shoestring'' (1979) and '' Bergerac'' (1981) and producing the first series of ''Lovejoy'' (1986). He also produced and co-adapted the early episodes of '' The Darling Buds of May'' (1991). Career Born in Edinburgh, Banks Stewart did national service in the British Army and began writing as a journalist, working for his home city's evening newspapers, where he became the youngest news editor in history for the ''Evening Dispatch''. Bob Baker (scriptwriter)
Robert John Baker (26 July 1939 – 3 November 2021) was a British television and film writer. He was best known for working on the original run of ''Doctor Who'', and for being a co-writer of the Wallace and Gromit films ''The Wrong Trousers'', ''A Close Shave'', '' Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit'' and ''A Matter of Loaf and Death'' (in which the character Baker Bob is named after him). Career Baker and Dave Martin began writing for Harlech Television (HTV), the local ITV franchise. One of their earliest works was Thick As Thieves starring Leonard Rossiter. Baker wrote for ''Doctor Who'' between 1971 and 1979. David Carson (director)
David Carson is a British director of television and film. Career Carson's first work in directing was in the British theatre scene and on British television. He directed an episode of the British soap opera ''Coronation Street''. Carson sought to move to the United States in order to work in the American film scene, and prior to travelling, his agent arranged an interview for him with the producers of '' Star Trek: The Next Generation''. However, he had never heard of ''Star Trek'', and at his agent's suggestion, he rented some videos in order to conduct research. Once in the United States, he met with Rick Berman and David Livingston and was hired to direct the episode " The Enemy". The producers liked the different British style of directing and scene blocking that Carson brought to the set, as it was a style that the show hadn't previously used. Peter James Ellis (28 January 1948 – 24 April 2006) was a British director of television episodes, including episodes of shows such as “Supernatural” and “Criminal Minds”. Personal life He was born in London and educated at Highgate School, as were his brothers, Robin Ellis and Jack Ellis. Career He began his career at Granada TV in the UK, being placed on their Director's Course. In the late 1980s, he moved to Hollywood, California, where he was based for the rest of his life.
