The 2010 California lieutenant gubernatorial election was held on November 2, 2010 to choose the Lieutenant Governor of California. The primary election was held on June 8, 2010. Incumbent Republican Lieutenant Governor Abel Maldonado, who was appointed to the office, ran for election to a full term and was defeated by Democratic Mayor Gavin Newsom of San Francisco. Lieutenant Governor Newsom started his four-year term on 10 January 2011. Sam Aanestad
Samuel Mark Aanestad (July 16, 1946 – May 6, 2018) was an American physician, surgeon, and politician. A Republican, he served in the California State Assembly from the 3rd District from 1998 to 2002 and a member of the California State Senate from the 4th district from 2002 to 2010. He was an unsuccessful candidate for California's 1st Congressional District, which was being vacated by retiring Congressman Wally Herger. Education and early career Aanestad was born in Bismarck, North Dakota. Janice Hahn
Janice Kay Hahn (born March 30, 1952) is an American politician serving as the member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors from the 4th district since 2016 and Chair of Los Angeles County since 2022. Gavin Christopher Newsom (born October 10, 1967) is an American politician and businessman who has been the 40th governor of California since 2019.
