California Heights is a historic neighborhood of Long Beach, California. Location California Heights is located north of Signal Hill, east of Los Cerritos, south of North Long Beach and Bixby Knolls, and west of Long Beach Airport. Description Until the early 1920s California Heights was part of the Bixby Ranch (now Rancho Los Cerritos) and was used primarily as grazing land. It was the discovery of oil on Signal Hill and the ensuing land boom in 1921 that caused the Jotham Bixby Company to subdivide and sell off lots in the California Heights tract. Long Beach Airport
Long Beach Airport is a public airport three miles northeast of downtown Long Beach, in Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is also called Daugherty Field, named after local aviator Earl Daugherty. The airport was an operating base for JetBlue, but this ended on October 6, 2020, as the carrier moved its operating base to LAX, amidst the then-ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Long Beach Airport's largest airline is now Southwest Airlines as JetBlue has ended all services at Long Beach. Tudor Revival architecture (also known as mock Tudor in the UK) first manifested itself in domestic architecture in the United Kingdom in the latter half of the 19th century. The Bixby land companies were a group of California-based land companies founded by various members of the Bixby and Flint families from Maine. North Long Beach (also referred to as North Town or Northside) is a predominantly working-class area of Long Beach, California. Los Cerritos (sometimes called Los Cerritos/Virginia Country Club) is a neighborhood with approximately 700 homes and 2,000 residents located within the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, California. Established in 1906, the Los Cerritos neighborhood has been used by the film industry of Hollywood with its historic, estate-sized homes.
