Calgary North
Calgary North was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1953 to 1997. This riding was created in 1952 from parts of the Bow River, Calgary West and East Calgary ridings. The electoral district was abolished in 1996 when it was merged into Calgary—Nose Hill. Eldon Woolliams
Eldon Mattison Woolliams, (12 April 1916 – 24 September 2001) was a Canadian politician and lawyer. Wooliams served as a Progressive Conservative Party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, and his career included law and education. He was shadow Justice Minister and Chairman of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs. As a 'Perry Mason' style trial lawyer, he had over two dozen murder trials where he won the cases as barrister for the accused. He was a descendant of Sir Matthew Hale, Lord Chief Justice of England. Woolliams first represented Alberta's Bow River electoral district. This is a list of Canada's 338 federal electoral districts (commonly referred to as '' ridings'' in Canadian English) as defined by the ''2013 Representation Order''. Canadian federal electoral districts are constituencies that elect members of Parliament to Canada's House of Commons every election. Provincial electoral districts often have names similar to their local federal counterpart, but usually have different geographic boundaries. Canadians elected members for each federal electoral district most recently in the 2021 federal election on . Diane Ablonczy (née Broadway; ; born May 6, 1949) is a former Canadian Member of Parliament who served in the House of Commons of Canada. Al Johnson (born 13 April 1939) is a Canadian former politician, professional geologist, and exploration manager. Johnson was a Progressive Conservative member of the House of Commons of Canada. Barry Pashak
Leonard Barry Pashak (April 21, 1937February 3, 2021) was a Canadian college instructor and politician. He served as member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta (MLA) from 1986 to 1993, sitting with the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) caucus. He was one of the first two NDP MLAs to be elected in southern Alberta. He later briefly served as leader of The Equity Party, a minor Alberta provincial party, from 2000 until 2001. Peter Petrasuk (July 12, 1926 – April 11, 2016) was a Canadian businessman, former lawyer, and former politician. Petrasuk changed his name to Peter Peterson following his criminal conviction. Early life Born in Ukraine in 1926, Petrasuk came to Canada when his family immigrated in 1931. The family settled at first in Calgary, Alberta, but moved in 1941 to Rosebud, Alberta, where they operated a local hotel. Petrasuk graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in engineering before being hired by the city of Maracaibo, Venezuela as the head of planning, development, and management of the city's utility system. Adrian Douglas Berry
Adrian Douglas Berry (1922-2007) was an Alberta politician who led the Alberta Liberal Party in 1966. Berry was born in Millet, Alberta. At 17, he enlisted in the Canadian Army during World War II and served as a tank commander in Italy and North Africa until he was injured and evacuated to England. After the war, Berry earned his Bachelor of Education at the University of Alberta and taught briefly in Edmonton before joining the National Life Assurance Company, eventually becoming an executive. He later moved to Calgary and, in 1964, was elected to Calgary City Council as alderman for Ward 3 and served in that position for nine years.
