Caledonia Train Station
Caledonia railway station was built in 1908 by the Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada. The station was the third to be built in Caledonia, Ontario. History Historically, Buffalo, New York, Buffalo, Brantford, Ontario, Brantford and Goderich Railway (BB&G) began to move train traffic through Caledonia, Ontario, Caledonia between 1852-1856. When the opportunity arose, James Little, founder of the Haldimand House, lobbied the town to bankrupt itself to secure a railroad line to pass through Caledonia, Ontario, Caledonia instead of Cayuga, Ontario, Cayuga. This line serviced Jarvis, Ontario, Jarvis to Hamilton, Ontario, Hamilton and was quickly extended out as far as Port Dover, Ontario, Port Dover. Caledonia is a community located on the Grand River in Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada. It had a population of 9,674 as of the 2016 Canadian Census. Caledonia is within Ward 3 of Haldimand County. The Councillor elected for Ward 3 is Dan Lawrence. As of September 2006, there were approximately 4,000 households in the community of Caledonia. Caledonia is located at the intersection of Highway 6 and Haldimand Highway 54 (within the town, these streets are called Argyle Street and Caithness Street respectively) on the Grand River.
