Caledonia Regional Leagues (Rugby Union)
The Caledonia Regional League (currently named the Tennent's Caledonia League for sponsorship reasons) is one of three Regional Leagues operated by the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU), which play at a level below that of the National League structure. Historically, these divisions were district leagues under the jurisdiction of the North of Scotland Rugby Union and the Midlands District Rugby Union, but have now come under the auspices of the SRU. Winners of the top division progress to Scottish National League Division Three. Below Division One, the league is regionalised further into Midlands and North divisions. Rugby union, commonly known simply as rugby, is a close-contact team sport that originated at Rugby School in the first half of the 19th century. Ross Sutherland RFC
Ross Sutherland RFC is a rugby union club based in Invergordon, in Easter Ross in the Highlands of Scotland. The first XV play in . The club also runs a number of junior sides and has a well-established mini rugby section for Primary school children. History As rugby made its way north it took hold in Inverness in the early 1920s. Shortly afterwards a Ross and Sutherland contingent broke away to form Ross Sutherland RFC. Records begin in 1927 although the club may have been running a few years earlier. The club spent some time in Dingwall and Strathpeffer before coming to the Naval Grounds in Invergordon where they have one of the finest pitches in the north of Scotland and excellent facilities. Mackie Academy RFC
Mackie Academy RFC is a rugby union club based in Stonehaven, Scotland. The Men's team currently plays in . History It was founded in 1976 as a former pupils club, though it is now an open club. It provides rugby for the Stonehaven, the Mearns and south Aberdeenshire area. There are two rugby pitches at the Redcloak site where they are based but the club were told to vacate one of their pitches and their lease was terminated for its use. The rugby club was unsuccessful in its bid to buy this second pitch. Mackie Academy RFC as of 2021 have 6 years of the lease left on the remaining Redcloak pitch. They have proposed buying the grounds off Forest Drive, at Mill O' Forest, to Stonehaven and District Community Council, and the club's bid is at public consultation. Banff RFC is a rugby union club based in Banff, Scotland. The Men's team currently plays in . History It was founded in 1978. One of the founders was ex-Highland RFC player George Webster. The ''Aberdeen Press and Journal'' of 21 March 1978 reported: Another new north-east rugby club, as yet unnamed, has been formed in Banff. Aberdeenshire RFC is a rugby union club based in Woodside, Aberdeen, Scotland. The Mens team currently plays in . The Womens team currently plays in Caledonia North Regional League Division 1. History Aberdeenshire RFC was founded in 1875. Aberdeenshire were early pioneers of Youth Rugby in the North East of Scotland. They were the first club in the area to establish a youth rugby team, in the 1960s. The club has played in local and national level league structures, and has had up to three mens teams competing. The highest league position they have reached is National Two. They experienced a drop down the leagues in 2017 following some managerial and financial difficulties. Madras College Former Pupils Rugby Football Club is a rugby union side based in St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. They play in Caledonia Regional League Division 2. They play at Station Park, St Andrews and field two men's fifteens each weekend, as well as a women's team (AKA The Saints). The club has close ties with Madras College, a secondary school in St Andrews. Although not all players are former pupils of the school, many are and sixth year pupils often train and play with the club during holidays and weeks in which school rugby is not on. Harris Academicals RFC
Harris Academy FPRFC is a rugby union club based in Dundee, Scotland, that was founded for the former pupils of Harris Academy on 5 November 1926. The club ceased to exist throughout the latter part of the 1990s and the early 2000s due to dwindling numbers. However, the club was reformed in August 2007 by former players combined with a large senior squad of players who had left the school the previous season. Those places had had a successful tour to Latvia in which they beat a local club side before beinvolved beaten by a Latvian under 19 select squad.
