Caitlin Lever
Caitlin Anne Lever (born March 12, 1985) is an American-Canadian softball outfielder. Early life Lever was born in Morristown, New Jersey, when her father Don Lever played for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL). Due to her birthright citizenship in the United States, birth in the US, Lever is a dual citizen of the United States and Canada. In her youth, she played ice hockey. She graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2007. In her final year playing for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets softball team, she set team records for hits and on-base percentage. Career She played Canada women's national softball team, for Canada Softball at the 2008 Summer Olympics, at the 2008 Summer Olympics. From 2008 to 2011, Lever played for the Chicago Bandits of National Pro Fastpitch. Personal She currently resides in Buffalo, New York. National Pro Fastpitch
National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), formerly the Women's Pro Softball League (WPSL), was a professional women's softball league in the United States. The teams battled for the Cowles Cup. The WPSL was founded in 1997 and folded in 2001; the NPF revived the league in 2004. A new softball league is planned for 2022, the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF), and the NPF will be disbanded. Softball is a game similar to baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Softball is played competitively at club levels, the college level, and the professional level. The game was first created in 1887 in Chicago by George Hancock. There are two rule sets for softball generally: ''slow pitch softball'' and ''fastpitch''. Slow pitch softball is commonly played recreationally, while women's fastpitch softball is a Summer Olympic sport and is played professionally. Depending on the variety being played and the age and gender of the players, the particulars of field and equipment vary. While distances between bases of 60 feet are standard across varieties, the pitcher's plate ranges from 35 to 43 feet away from home plate, and the home run fence can be 220 to 300 feet away from home plate.
