Cadavrexquis
''Cadavrexquis'' is a studio album by French singer Amanda Lear, first released by Chène Music in 1993. Background ''Cadavrexquis'' was a collaboration with French musicians and producers, and German production team Bass Bumpers, recorded in Imagine Studio and SBC Studio in Paris. It was Lear's first English language album since 1986's '' Secret Passion'' and marked her definite return to the dance genre. The album showcased material heavily influenced by eurodance, which in the early 1990s was reaching its prime. The title of the album is a reference to the Surrealist game of exquisite corpse (in French: cadavre exquis). Apart from new songs, ''Cadavrexquis'' included three re-recordings of Lear's hits from the 1970s: "Fashion Pack", "Follow Me" (both with updated lyrics) and the downtempo version of "Lili Marleen". Amanda Lear (; born 1939) is a French singer, songwriter, painter, television presenter, actress, and former model. She began her professional career as a fashion model in the mid-1960s, and went on to model for Paco Rabanne, Ossie Clark, and others. She met Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dalí, and remained his closest friend and muse for the next 15 years. Lear first came into the public eye as the cover model for Roxy Music's album ''For Your Pleasure'' in 1973. From the mid-1970s to the early 1980s, she was a million-album-selling disco queen, mainly in Continental Europe and Scandinavia, signed to Ariola Records. "Lili Marleen" (also spelled "Lili Marlen'", "Lilli Marlene", "Lily Marlene", "Lili Marlène" among others; ) is a German love song that became popular during World War II throughout Europe and the Mediterranean among both Axis and Allied troops. Written in 1915 as a poem, the song was published in 1937 and was first recorded by Lale Andersen in 1939 as "Das Mädchen unter der Laterne" ("The Girl under the Lantern"). Bass Bumpers are a German DJ and record production team, known for their Eurodance/techno music. They are originally from Germany, with members Henning Reith, Caba Kroll, CJ Stone, George Dee, Akira Yamamoto, and Reinhard "DJ Voodoo" Raith. They produced their own hits such as " Good Fun", " The Music's Got Me" (a number 36 hit on ''Billboard's'' Hot Dance Club Songs chart in 1992), "Move to the Rhythm" and " Rhythm Is a Dancer (2003)" with Snap!. Perhaps their biggest success was when they created Crazy Frog's remake of the popular hit "Axel F" from Beverly Hills Cop. ''The Collection'' (stylized as ''The ★ Collection'') is a compilation album by French singer Amanda Lear, released in 1991 by BMG-Ariola. Background The album was part of BMG's mid-price CD series ''The Collection'', released in the early 1990s, containing back-catalogue material by artists ranging from Modern Talking, Baccara and Boney M. to Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and Nina Simone. The compilation consisted of songs exclusively from Amanda's first two albums, '' I Am a Photograph'' and '' Sweet Revenge'', released in 1977 and 1978, respectively. The artwork is credited to FKGB. ''Alter Ego'' is a studio album by French singer Amanda Lear, released in 1995 by ZYX Music. Background The album was recorded at Metropolis Studio in Milan and PNG Studios in Munich, except for the previously released "Everytime You Touch Me", recorded at Gadda Studio in Bologna. ''Alter Ego'' marked Lear's return to Munich, twelve years after she had last recorded there. The album was produced by Michael Gordon and Tubi Forti.
