Caboolture Railway Station
Caboolture railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the urban centre of Caboolture in the Moreton Bay Region. History Caboolture station opened in June 1889 as part of the extension of the North Coast Line from Petrie, which opened in March 1888. As part of the electrification of the line from Petrie, the existing station building was replaced and a new island platform built. The new station opened on 16 November 1985, while the electrification opened on 28 June 1986. The Kilcoy line branched off to the north-west. It opened in December 1909, closing in September 1996. An old turntable is located on the eastern side. It is located on the north side of the Caboolture River, which separates the town from Morayfield and Caboolture South. Geography Caboolture is an urban centre or satellite city approximately north of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland. Caboolture is now considered to be the northernmost urban area of the greater Brisbane metropolitan region within South East Queensland, and it marks the end of the Brisbane suburban commuter railway service along the North Coast railway line. Nambour Railway Station
Nambour railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the town of Nambour in the Sunshine Coast Region. History On 16 December 1963, the present station building was opened by Minister for Transport Gordon Chalk. On 11 August 1988, a bus station was opened outside the station by Minister for Transport Ivan Gibbs. South of the station lie stabling sidings for electric multiple units. In 2016 a major upgrade to the station commenced. Services Nambour is the terminus for City network services from Brisbane with two services daily continuing to Gympie. Longreach is a town and a locality in the Longreach Region, Queensland, Australia. It is the administrative centre of the Longreach Regional Council, which was established in 2008 as a merger of the former Longreach, Ilfracombe, and Isisford shires. Longreach is a well known tourist destination due to its aviation history and importance. In the , the locality of Longreach had a population of 3,124 people. Cleveland Railway Station
Cleveland railway station is located on the Cleveland line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the suburb of Cleveland in the Redland City. History In 1889, the Cleveland line was extended from Manly to the original Cleveland station. In 1897, the line was extended to the second Cleveland station. Cleveland station opened as the Raby Bay railway station in 1914. On 1 November 1960, the station closed when the line was truncated to Lota. When the station reopened on 24 October 1987, the former Raby Bay station became the third to carry the name Cleveland. Incidents On 31 January 2013, a passenger train, IMU173, overshot the railway line and collided with the station, severely damaging a toilet block and the railway station and injuring 14 people. The Tilt Train is the name for two similar high-speed tilting train services, one electric and the other diesel, operated by Queensland Rail. They run on the North Coast line from Brisbane to Bundaberg and Rockhampton (electric) and Cairns (diesel). History Rockhampton Commencing in 1998, the Electric Tilt Train operates from Brisbane to Rockhampton. With a top service speed of and the ability to tilt five degrees in each direction, the Tilt Train is one of the fastest trains in Australia, having a similar maximum allowed speed in revenue service to the V/Line VLocity and the Transwa Prospector railcar, that both run up to 160 km/h, and New South Wales XPT although the XPT is rarely able to achieve its maximum operating speed due to track condition and curvature. Bundaberg Railway Station
Bundaberg railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the city of Bundaberg. History Bundaberg's first railway station, on the Mount Perry railway line, was built in 1881 as a transfer station to the Bundaberg docks for shipping coal from nearby mines. It is now in use as a museum. The station has one side platform and a south facing bay platform. A yard exists opposite the station. The Spirit of the Outback is a long-distance passenger rail service in Queensland, Australia, operated by Queensland Rail's Traveltrain division. Route Debuting in November 1993 by combining the former ''Capricornian'' and '' Midlander'' trains, this 1,325 km rail journey operates between Brisbane and Longreach. The ''Spirit of the Outback'' travels along the east coast of Queensland, from Brisbane to Rockhampton, where it heads west through Blackwater, Emerald and Barcaldine, to Longreach. The ''Spirit of the Outback'' passes through coastal landscapes and then travels into the Outback, through mountain ranges, sunburnt plains and historic towns and to attractions such as the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and Qantas Founders Outback Museum. The Spirit of Queensland is a Queensland Rail long distance passenger rail service. It is operated by a diesel powered Tilt Train that runs five times a week on the North Coast line between Brisbane and Cairns, a distance of 1,681 kilometres.
