Cabinet Secretary For Health, Well-being And Sport
The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care () is a cabinet position in the Welsh Government, currently held by Mark Drakeford Member of the Senedd, MS from August 2024. The minister is responsible for the running of the NHS Wales, National Health Service in Wales, all aspects of public health and health protection in Wales, the Food Standards Agency in Wales, post-graduate medical education and any charges for NHS services. The position was briefly titled as Cabinet Secretary for Health, Well-being and Sport from 2016 to 2018. Under the Government of the 5th Assembly (2018) the position was renamed to its previous name. The Welsh Government ( cy, Llywodraeth Cymru) is the Welsh devolution, devolved government of Wales. The government consists of ministers and Minister (government), deputy ministers, and also of a Counsel General for Wales, counsel general. Ministers only attend the Cabinet Meetings of the Welsh Government. It is led by the First Minister of Wales, first minister, usually the leader of the largest party in the Senedd (Welsh Parliament; ), who selects ministers and deputy ministers with the approval of the Senedd. Gething Government
The Gething government was the Welsh Labour, Labour-led government of Wales formed on 21 March 2024 following the appointment of Vaughan Gething as First Minister of Wales, First Minister on 20 March 2024. History Following the resignation of Mark Drakeford, Gething was elected Leader of the Labour party on 16 March 2024 and appointed First Minister on 20 March.
