A smart TV, also known as a connected TV (CTV), is a traditional television set with integrated Internet and interactive Web 2.0 features, which allows users to stream music and videos, browse the internet, and view photos. Smart TVs are a technological convergence of computers, televisions, and digital media players. Besides the traditional functions of television sets provided through traditional broadcasting media, these devices can provide access to over-the-top media services such as streaming television and internet radio, along with home networking access. CTV 41 Bendigo
CTV 41 Bendigo was a free-to-air community television station based in Bendigo. The station was awarded a trial licence in July 1996 for broadcasting on UHF 41. On 2 April 1998, the Australian Broadcasting Authority, regulator of television and radio broadcasting in Australia, decided to not renew the trial licences of community broadcasters that were not yet on-air, but the intervention of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia prompted the extension of such licences from 1 July 1998 to 30 June 1999. The station eventually began broadcasting a test pattern on 19 June 1999 on UHF 41. On 26 June 1999, a 3-hour tape of programming information and music was broadcast on a loop. The station's licence was cancelled on 30 June 1999 due to its failure to broadcast regular programming. CTV Building
The CTV Building was the headquarters of Canterbury Television (locally known as CTV) and other companies. Located on the corner of Cashel and Madras Streets in Christchurch Central City, New Zealand. It became one of the symbols of the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake after 115 people lost their lives when the building collapsed during the disaster; the deaths made up about 60% of the earthquake's total fatalities. Canterbury Television
Canterbury Television was an independent television station broadcasting in Canterbury, New Zealand. The name is synonymous with regional television in New Zealand as it was the name of the first regional broadcaster to operate in New Zealand. CTV produced and screened more than twenty hours of locally based programming every week. It also screened overseas programming from Deutsche Welle and Al Jazeera. It was broadcast from the Sugarloaf transmitter on the Port Hills. The transmitter, on UHF channel 48, was an NEC 2kW transmitter and the radiated EIRP was 25kW. On 22 February 2011 Christchurch was hit by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake and the CTV Building collapsed killing 16 staff members and destroying all of CTV's equipment. Cape Town TV
Cape Town TV is a community television channel that broadcasts in Cape Town, South Africa. It launched in September 2008 with a one-year, "temporary" license and thereafter won another such license in September 2009. It is a non-profit organisation that is licensed as a community broadcaster in terms of South Africa's Electronic Communications Act. Signal transmission and reception CTV is a free-to-air channel that broadcasts on an analogue transmission. The channel transmits from a single low-power transmitter located on Tygerberg hill, to the north of Cape Town. This site provides the widest possible coverage of the Cape Town metropolitan region, although it is only licensed (by ICASA) for low-power transmission. The channel is broadcast on the frequency 607.25 MHz (channel 38) on the UHF band. CTV (pay Television)
CTV was an analogue pay television package, available in Scandinavia. It was mostly using Norwegian satellites such as Thor 1 and Intelsat 707 to broadcast basic channels to Scandinavian homes, using the D2-MAC transmission system. CTV was operated by Telenor, who in 1997 joined forces with Multichoice (owned by Canal+) to launch the Canal Digital platform. Most of the CTV channels were closed down in September 2001. ITV Channel Television, previously Channel Television, is a British television station which has served as the ITV contractor for the Channel Islands since 1962. It is based in Jersey and broadcasts regional programme for insertion into the network ITV schedule.
