Sagesse Sports Club (), known as Hekmeh ( ar, الحكمة ) in Arabic, is a football club based in Achrafieh, a district in Beirut, Lebanon, that competes in the . The club was founded in 1943 as Cercle de la Sagesse. Although they haven't won any major title, Sagesse came second twice in the Lebanese Premier League 2002, and were finalists in both the Lebanese FA Cup, in 2006, and the Lebanese Federation Cup, in 2004. The club is mostly known for its basketball program, and mainly has Maronite Christian ties. History Early history The Collège de la Sagesse school had a football club with their own students; at the end of each season, graduated players would go on to play for other senior teams, mainly Salam Achrafieh. Sagesse's senior team were formed in 1942 under the patronage of Father Boulos Kik, the general director of the Sagesse Institute, supported by Monseigneur Jean Maroun. Emile Rustom
Emile Boulos Rustom ( ar, إميل بولس رستم; born 27 March 1952) is a Lebanese football coach and former player who is the head coach of club Sagesse. After playing with Sagesse for 22 years, and the Lebanon national team for nine, he became Sagesse's coach in 2005. He then coached Nejmeh, Shabab Sahel, Safa, and Ansar. He is the first coach to win the Lebanese Premier League with two different teams (Nejmeh and Safa), as well as the first coach to coach both cross-city rivals Nejmeh and Ansar. Rustom also coached Lebanon, from 2008 to 2011. Rustom is the father of Paul, a former Lebanese Premier League and Lebanon national team player. 2020–21 Lebanese Second Division
The Lebanese Second Division ( ar, الدوري اللبناني الدرجة الثانية) is the second division of Lebanese football. It is controlled by the Lebanese Football Association. The top two teams qualify for the Lebanese Premier League and replace the relegated teams, while the bottom two are relegated to the Lebanese Third Division. The league was initially scheduled to start in September, before being postponed to 2 October as part of preventive measures by the state towards the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the first season to feature a "split" format, where the season is divided into two phases. In the first phase, each club plays against each other once, for a total of 11 matchdays. In the second phase, the league is split into two halves – the "top six" and the "bottom six". Points are carried over from the first phase, and each club plays five games within its own half. Akram Omar Moghrabi ( ar, أكرم عمر مغربي; born 19 October 1985) is a Lebanese professional footballer who plays as a forward for club Sagesse. Club career Moghrabi signed for Nejmeh's youth sector on 11 September 2002. On 23 July 2012 I-League club Churchill Brothers signed Moghrabi on a one-year deal. ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib ( ar, عَلِيّ بْن أَبِي طَالِب; 600 – 661 CE) was the last of four Rightly Guided Caliphs to rule Islam (r. 656 – 661) immediately after the death of Muhammad, and he was the first Shia Imam. Serge Dovlet Said ( ar, سيرج دولت سعيد; born 11 November 1985) is a Lebanese footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for club Sagesse.
