(), formerly also known as JRVEC (Jinan Railway Vehicles Equipment), is a railway rolling stock factory located in Jinan, Shandong, China, established in 1910 as a workshop of the Jinpu Railway. CRRC Wind Power (formerly CNR Wind Power) is its wind power manufacturing subsidiary, established in 2010 in Songyuan. CRRC Corporation Limited (known as CRRC) is a Chinese state-owned and publicly traded rolling stock manufacturer. Songyuan () is a prefecture-level city in west-central Jilin province, China. History Even though the present city of Songyuan is predominantly modern in appearance, the area has a long history dating back to the Neolithic age. The China Railways YJ (Chinese: 跃进; pinyin: Y''uè Jìn''; lit. 'leap forward') design is based on China Railways PL2 class 2-6-2, itself derived from the JF6 2-8-2, the predecessor of the well known SY class mikado. The SY () class 2-8-2 Mikado is one of the main industrial locomotives used by China Railways built mostly by Tangshan Railway Vehicle between 1960 and 1999. History and design The SY class was the last major class of steam locomotives to be produced anywhere in the world with the last one built in 1999. The design, however, is based on the earlier Japanese-built JF6 Class 2-8-2s which itself was based on a locomotive type built by the American Locomotive Company in the 1920s for use in Korea. What was contrasting from the JF6 Class was that the SYs were fitted with airhorns (like many other powerful steam locomotives), frequently blown as a warning; or else the operators of the class enjoyed sounding the airhorns more than blowing the whistles, as they found loud signal sounds more useful.
