Relational Database
A relational database is a (most commonly digital) database based on the relational model of data, as proposed by E. F. Codd in 1970. A system used to maintain relational databases is a relational database management system (RDBMS). Many relational database systems are equipped with the option of using the SQL (Structured Query Language) for querying and maintaining the database. History The term "relational database" was first defined by E. F. Codd at IBM in 1970. Codd introduced the term in his research paper "A Relational Model of Data for Large Shared Data Banks". In this paper and later papers, he defined what he meant by "relational". One well-known definition of what constitutes a relational database system is composed of Codd's 12 rules. However, no commercial implementations of the relational model conform to all of Codd's rules, so the term has gradually come to describe a broader class of database systems, which at a minimum: # Present the data to the user as relati ...

Communication Quotient
Communication quotient (CQ; alternately called communication intelligence or CI) is the theory that communication is a behavior-based skill that can be measured and trained. CQ measures the ability of people to communicate effectively with one another. In 1999 Mario de Vries was the first to present a theory on CQ measurement. The first scholarly article referring to CQ was "CQ: the Communication Quotient for IS professionals" by Robert Service. History The development of CQ began with challenges to the idea that IQ fully explained cognitive ability. In 1983 Howard Gardner published ''Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences''. Gardner claimed that IQ failed to fully explain cognitive ability. CQ is one of Gardner's "intelligences". Daniel Goleman's emotional intelligence and social intelligence are others. As explained by de Vries: one measure of intelligence is to be able to explain an insight, whether it is analytical or emotional. Hence, CQ is required to activate ...

Charge Of Quarters
CQ or charge of quarters is a tasked duty in which a United States armed forces service member is to guard the front entrance to the barracks. In which the two service members, one a non-commissioned officer (NCO) and the other a junior enlisted service member, sit at a desk to monitor incoming and outgoing traffic into the barracks. There are usually additional duties, such as sweeping the entryway, cleaning the entrance restrooms, and checking the barracks laundry room for laundry left overnight. Other duties may include performing radio checks every few hours with other company barracks and battalion headquarters around the base or surrounding installations as well as bed checks to ensure service members are in their rooms with their doors locked by curfew. For example, some U.S. Armed Forces service members stationed in South Korea South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea (ROK), is a country in East Asia, constituting the southern part of the Korean Peninsula an ...

Flight deck crew On an aircraft carrier flight deck, specialized crew are employed for the different roles utilized in managing air operations. The different flight deck crews wear colored jerseys to visually distinguish their functions. Everyone associated with the flight deck has a specific job, which is indicated by the color of his deck jersey, float coat and helmet. Rank is also denoted by the pattern of pants worn by flight deck crew: *Navy blue pants – Denotes junior sailors and petty officers. *Khaki pants – Denotes chief petty, warrant and commissioned officers. This keeps in line with the traditional khaki color of CPO and officer service uniforms. When a Distinguished V ...

Cadit Quaestio
' is a Latin expression that is used as a legal term and in some other contexts. The expression literally translates as "the question (quaestio) falls (cadit)". In legal contexts, ''cadit quaestio'' is used to indicate that an issue is no longer in question, often because a dispute (question) between two parties has been either settled or dropped. 'cq' copy editing mark As a mark in copy editing, "cq" implies that the accuracy of a statement, fact, etc., has been verified. It is usually placed in a draft article by the writer, to the attention of the copy editor. The precise origin of the term is uncertain, but 'cq' was identified as the shorthand form of "correct" in the 1879 Phillips Code, a set of abbreviations used in the transmission of press reports via telegraph, first published in 1879. Alternate explanations of the origin include an abbreviation for "cadit quaestio", indicating that the issue is "no longer in question", and an abbreviation for "correct as quoted", which s ...

Norinco CQ
The Type CQ is an unlicensed Chinese variant of the M16 rifle manufactured by Norinco. According to the Norinco website, the rifle is officially known as CQ 5.56. It can be distinguished from other AR-15 and M-16 pattern rifles by its long, revolver-like pistol grip, somewhat rounded handguards, and the unique shape of its stock. History The CQ was first introduced in the early 1980s. This weapon is chambered for 5.56×45mm cartridges and it was intended for export sales. Two variants of the CQ rifle are made: the CQ 5.56, also known as the CQ-311 or CQ M-311, the select-fire variant for Military/LE sales; and the CQ M311-1, the semiautomatic version for the civilian market. Later, a carbine variant has been introduced, called the CQ 5.56mm Type A. The Semi-auto sporter have been successful in the civilian market. The CQ was never adopted by the Chinese military or even unofficially distributed within Chinese troops. Other military uses of the Type CQ assault rifle have bee ...

CQ (call)
CQ is a code used by wireless operators, particularly those communicating in Morse code, (), but also by voice operators, to make a general call (called a ''CQ call''). Transmitting the letters ''CQ'' on a particular radio frequency is an invitation for any operators listening on that frequency to respond. It is still widely used in amateur radio. History and usage The CQ call was originally used by landline telegraphy operators in the United Kingdom. French was, and still is, the official language for international postal services, and the word sécurité was used to mean "safety" or "pay attention". It is still used in this sense in international telecommunications. The letters CQ, when pronounced in French, resemble the first two syllables of ', and were therefore used as shorthand for the word. It sounds also like the French "c'est qui?", which means "who's there?". In English-speaking countries, the origin of the abbreviation was popularly changed to the phrase "seek you" o ...

Database Theory
Database theory encapsulates a broad range of topics related to the study and research of the theoretical realm of databases and database management systems. Theoretical aspects of data management include, among other areas, the foundations of query languages, computational complexity and expressive power of queries, finite model theory, database design theory, dependency theory, foundations of concurrency control and database recovery, deductive databases, temporal and spatial databases, real-time databases, managing uncertain data and probabilistic databases, and Web data. Most research work has traditionally been based on the relational model, since this model is usually considered the simplest and most foundational model of interest. Corresponding results for other data models, such as object-oriented or semi-structured models, or, more recently, graph data models and XML, are often derivable from those for the relational model. A central focus of database theory is ...
