CONSUDATLE
Atletismo Sudamericano (''South American Athletics''), formerly CONSUDATLE (Spanish: Confederación Sudamericana de Atletismo; ''South American Athletics Confederation''), is the continental confederation governing body of athletics for national governing bodies and multi-national federations within South America. CONSUDATLE is one of six area associations of World Athletics (WA). CONSUDATLE was founded on May 24, 1918, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Therefore, the CONSUDATLE claims to be the oldest athletics area association of the world. The founding members were Argentina, Uruguay, and Andean Chile. Successively, the other countries joined: Brazil in 1922, Ecuador and Peru in 1925, Bolivia in 1930, and Colombia in 1937. Paraguay and Venezuela followed later, and Guyana, Panama, and Suriname joined within the last decades. South American Race Walking Championships
The South American Race Walking Championships (''Spanish language, Spanish: Campeonatos Sudamericanos de Marcha Atlética'') is a biennial race walking competition organized by CONSUDATLE for athletes representing the countries of its member associations. Races for senior men and women, for junior and for youth athletes are featured. In addition, there are separate team competitions. The event was established (most probably) in 1989 as South American Race Walking Cup (''Spanish language, Spanish: Copa Sudamericana de Marcha Atlética''), and was occurring annually at first. The 2001 event was held in conjunction with the Pan American Race Walking Cup. The name as well as the frequency of the competition were changed in 2004. South American Cross Country Championships
The South American Cross Country Championships is an annual continental cross country running competition for athletes from South America or, more specifically, member countries of CONSUDATLE. It was first held in 1986, making it the oldest of the continental cross country championships. The event is typically held in late February or early March. The South American Championships in Athletics were the precursor to the competition in that cross country was featured on the main athletics programme between 1924 and 1949. After the introduction of an independent championships in 1986, multiple races were held: the initial competition schedule featured long races for senior men and women, and shorter races for junior men and women. This was expanded in 1991 with the addition of a youth competition for younger runners. The South American U20 Championships in Athletics are the South American championships in the sport of athletics which is open for those in the junior age category (19 years or under). It is organized by the South American Athletics Confederation (CONSUDATLE). The competition was first held in 1959 in Buenos Aires. It was an annual event from its inaugural year until 1962, at which point it was held every two years. The South American Marathon Championships (Spanish: ''Campeonatos Sudamericanos de Maratón'') is an annual road running competition organized by CONSUDATLE for athletes representing the countries of its member associations. The event was established in 1994 as South American Marathon Cup (''Copa Sudamericana de Maratón'') following its removal from the main South American Championship programme after 1991. Discontinued after 2002, the event was reestablished under the current name in 2009. World Athletics, formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation (from 1912 to 2001) and International Association of Athletics Federations (from 2001 to 2019, both abbreviated as the IAAF) is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, race walking, mountain running, and ultra running. Luis Carlos Fanta Tomaszewski (21 August 1890 – 8 December 1964), known as Carlos Fanta, was a Chilean football player, manager, referee, director of football, journalist, and pharmacist. Early years Fanta belonged to a German- Polish family. Both his father, Carlos Sr., and his mother, Alma, were distinguished professors who came to Chile in 1888 recruited by the President of Chile José Manuel Balmaceda along with their four children: Margarita, Olga, Federico and Kurt.
