CKRV-FM
CKRV-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 97.5 FM in Kamloops, British Columbia. The station broadcasts a classic rock format branded as ''K 97.5'', and prior to 2010, it had a hot adult contemporary format. Even though as a top 40 station, it was still being classified as a hot AC station by Mediabase and Nielsen BDS. CKRV's most recent shift to top 40 was plagued by CKBZ-FM shifting from adult contemporary to hot AC in the late 2000s. The station was launched in 1984 by Hal Yerxa's CFCW Ltd. It was acquired by Newcap Broadcasting in 1989, but was then sold to local broadcaster NL Broadcasting, the owner of AM station CHNL in the city, in 1993. On February 20, 2015, CKRV-FM switched to a variety hits format as ''97.5 The River'', and adopted a new slogan Kamloops' best variety of the '80s, '90s and WOW, but kept the station's branding. In June 2017, the station was reacquired by Newcap, along with sister stations CHNL and CJKC-FM.

Radio Stations Established In 1984
Radio is the technology of signaling and communicating using radio waves. Radio waves are electromagnetic waves of frequency between 30 hertz (Hz) and 300 gigahertz (GHz). They are generated by an electronic device called a transmitter connected to an antenna which radiates the waves, and received by another antenna connected to a radio receiver. Radio is very widely used in modern technology, in radio communication, radar, radio navigation, remote control, remote sensing, and other applications. In radio communication, used in radio and television broadcasting, cell phones, two-way radios, wireless networking, and satellite communication, among numerous other uses, radio waves are used to carry information across space from a transmitter to a receiver, by modulating the radio signal (impressing an information signal on the radio wave by varying some aspect of the wave) in the transmitter. In radar, used to locate and track objects like aircraft, ships, spacecraft ...

Classic Rock Radio Stations In Canada
A classic is an outstanding example of a particular style; something of lasting worth or with a timeless quality; of the first or highest quality, class, or rank – something that exemplifies its class. The word can be an adjective (a ''classic'' car) or a noun (a ''classic'' of English literature). It denotes a particular quality in art, architecture, literature, design, technology, or other cultural artifacts. In commerce, products are named 'classic' to denote a long-standing popular version or model, to distinguish it from a newer variety. ''Classic'' is used to describe many major, long-standing sporting events. Colloquially, an everyday occurrence (e.g. a joke or mishap) may be described in some dialects of English as 'an absolute classic'. "Classic" should not be confused with ''classical'', which refers specifically to certain cultural styles, especially in music and architecture: styles generally taking inspiration from the Classical tradition, hence classicism. ...

Classic Hits
Classic hits is a radio format which generally includes songs from the top 40 music charts from the late 1960s to the early 2000s, with music from the 1980s serving as the core of the format. Music that was popularized by MTV in the early 1980s and the nostalgia behind it is a major driver to the format. It is considered the successor to the oldies format, a collection of top 40 songs from the late 1950s through the late 1970s that was once extremely popular in the United States and Canada. The term is sometimes incorrectly used as a synonym for the adult hits format, which uses a slightly newer music library stretching from all decades to the present with a major focus on 1990s and 2000s pop, rock and alternative songs. In addition, adult hits stations tend to have larger playlists, playing a given song only a few times per week, compared to the tighter libraries on classic hits stations. For example, KRTH, a classic hits station in Los Angeles, and KLUV, a classic hits statio ...
