CJRN
CJRN was a radio station in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, which aired at AM 710. The "RN" in the call is for Radio Niagara. The station was launched in 1947 by local businessman B. H. Bedford, operating on AM 1600 with the callsign CHVC. The station's studios were originally located under the Rainbow Bridge. The station was acquired by Radio Niagara in 1964, and adopted the CJRN calls that year. Radio Niagara moved the station's studios to Clifton Hill in 1965. In 1970, the station moved to its current frequency, and in 1978, Radio Niagara was acquired by local businessman Keith Dancy. In 1986, Dancy also opened CJFT in Fort Erie. From 1984 to 1992, Buffalo Sabres play-by-play co-announcer Rick Jeanneret hosted a popular morning show on the station. He ended the show after the retirement of Ted Darling made Jeanneret the full-time announcer for the team. Dancy died in 2001, and ownership of the stations was assumed by Niagara Broadcasting. CKEY-FM
CFLZ-FM (101.1 MHz) is a commercial radio station in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada, serving the Niagara Region and the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area. It is owned by Byrnes Communications and it broadcasts an adult hits format, known as ''101.1 More FM''. CFLZ's studios and offices are on Ontario Avenue in Niagara Falls. CFLZ-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 50,000 watts. The transmitter is on Kraft Road in Fort Erie, near Ontario Highway 3. History CJFT and CKEY-FM The station was launched on July 1 (Canada Day), 1986, at 5:30 p.m. as AM 530 CJFT, playing a Top 40 format. Afternoon drive personality Alan Chonka signed CJFT on the air. It moved to FM in 1991, adopted the CKEY-FM call letters, and flipped to adult standards. (from 1945 to 1991, CKEY was the callsign of an AM radio station in Toronto, which now airs Chinese programming as Fairchild Radio affiliate CHKT.)
