CJPR-FM is a Canadian radio station that broadcasts a country format at 94.9 FM under its on-air branding as ''Real Country 94.9'' in Blairmore, Alberta. The station was owned & operated by Newcap Radio until they were bought out by Stingray Digital. CJPR originally began broadcasting at 1490 AM in 1972, until it moved to 94.9 FM in 2002. On May 16, 2008, CJPR applied to the CRTC to add a transmitter at Pincher Creek, Alberta. The station was given approval on July 28, 2008 to operate a rebroadcaster in Pincher Creek at 92.7 FM (CJPV-FM). Pincher Creek
Pincher Creek is a town in southern Alberta, Canada. It is located immediately east of the Canadian Rockies, west of Lethbridge and south of Calgary. History For centuries before European settlers reached this area and inhabited it, Indigenous clans of the Blackfoot, Peigan and Kootenai passed through, lived in or frequented the region. The town received its name in 1868 when a group of prospectors lost a pincer in the small creek at this location. These pincers would have been used as a device for trimming the feet of the horses and thus had some value to the group. In 1874, the North-West Mounted Police came to southern Alberta. One of them discovered the rusting tools in the creek, and they named the area Pincher Creek. Pincher Creek was officially listed as a place name in the Geological Survey Report, 1880. Stingrays are a group of sea rays, which are cartilaginous fish related to sharks. The Canadian Communications Foundation (CCF) is a Canadian nonprofit organization which documents the history of broadcasting in Canada, particularly radio and television. Elkford
Elkford is a district municipality in the southeast region of the Canadian province of British Columbia in the Rocky Mountain range. It is north of the junction at Sparwood, on provincial Highway 43. Outdoor recreational activities take place in Elkford throughout the year. Elkford hosts an annual festival called Wildcat Days during the last weekend of June.
