Martin Pescador MP-1000
The Martín Pescador MP-1000 was an Argentine air-to-surface missile developed by the CITEFA (''Instituto de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas de las FFAA'' - Armed Forces Scientific and Technical Research Institute). The main user was the COAN (''Comando Aviación Naval'' - Naval Aviation Command) of the Argentine Navy. The first evaluations were carried out in 1975 firing around 60 test missiles in the span of two years. The Argentine Air Force got off the project claiming that it was not there to "sink ships", and the Navy slowed it down, although there are photos that show that at least a dozen were deployed in the 1978 Beagle Conflict, mostly to be used since the Aermacchi of Naval Aviation. However, they were not used in the Falklands War, citing, among other things, the nature of British anti-aircraft defenses. Finally, they were homologated after firing from T-28 Trojan aircraft, and the first related shot was fired by Captain Rodolfo Castro Fox of the COAN. It is ...

The 155mm L33 Argentine Model gun (Argentine Army denomination: ''Cañón 155 mm. L 33 Modelo Argentino'') is an Argentine artillery field gun in service with the Argentine Army. Development Developed in late 1970s by CITEFA as ''obus 155 mm L33 X1415 CITEFA Modelo 77'' in order to replace the World War II era M114 155 mm howitzer still in service in the Argentine Army. The ordnance is based on the gun carried by the French Mk F3 155mm self-propelled gun, also in service with the Argentine Army. Also designed by CITEFA is a slightly improved version named "''Modelo 81''". Service Examples of ''Modelo 77'' were used during the Falklands War. A total four guns were captured by the British, these were flown in via Argentine Air Force C-130 Hercules during the conflict's last weeks in order to repel British naval gun fire after direct request from Argentinian commander to Buenos Aires Junta. They were feared by British soldiers and were considered high value targets fo ...

Pampero MRL
The SLAM (Sistema Lanzacohetes de Artillería Múltiple, or Multiple Rocket Launcher System) "Pampero" is an Argentinian multiple rocket launcher (a type of rocket artillery) from Cold War and modern eras. Development The SLAM "Pampero" MRL was developed by CITEFA in 1980–1983, and was subsequently manufactured during the early 1980s by the DGFM “Fabrica Militar Fray Luis Beltran” in Rosario, Argentina. It is composed by a 16-tube launcher mounted on an Unimog 416 4x4 truck. The ammunition consists of 105mm "Pampero" artillery rockets, also developed by CITEFA, which can be armed with a variety of warheads. A total of five "Pampero" launchers on UNIMOG 416 chassis were built for the Argentine Army in 1983 (one of them the prototype and the others four for actual use). Service history The self-propelled variant is currently in service with the Argentine Army artillery branch. Production progressed to the CP-30 MRL, which is able to use either the 105mm rockets from the P ...

Mathogo
The Mathogo (Acronym for ''Misil Anti-Tanque Hilo Guiado'' - en, Wire Guided Anti-Tank Missile) is an Argentine first-generation wire-guided anti-tank missile. Background The anti-tank missiles ( ATGW, anti-tank guided weapons) evolved in the late 1950s from the portable anti-tank rockets (ATR) like the bazooka, which required the operator to be close to the target, to overcome the limitations of these. History The Mathogo was developed by CITEFA (''Instituto de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas de las FFAA'' - the Armed Forces Scientific and Technical Research Institute) in the 1970s to supplement and eventually replace the Argentine 105-mm recoilless rifles. In design it is similar to the Swedish BANTAM by Bofors - which is reported to have been bought in limited numbers for the Argentine Marine Corps - only slightly larger and with a pointed nose section with the first versions. Some news report photo captions have even mistaken it for the BANTAM. Development ...

Argentine Defense Industry
The Argentine defense industry has developed, over the years, different programs to improve the armed forces of Argentina. The first major steps to establish a defense industry were made during the Second World War and they received a boost during the 1970s after the United States imposed an arms embargo due to human rights violations. The politics of privatization carried out during the 1990s virtually eliminated domestic military production, but many factories were reopened during the last years. Army In 1945, the Argentine Army designed and built its first tank: the Nahuel; and the first jeep: Ñandú. Since then, the state-owned complex Fabricaciones Militares, has traditionally supplied the Army with most of its equipment from uniforms and helmets right through to the TAM (tank) family. Weapons such as the Browning pistol, FN FAL, FN MAG etc. were licence built by the ''Domingo Matheu'' factory or developed locally as the FARA 83 rifle. CITEFA still is the government ag ...

Research Institutes In Argentina
Research is "creative and systematic work undertaken to increase the stock of knowledge". It involves the collection, organization and analysis of evidence to increase understanding of a topic, characterized by a particular attentiveness to controlling sources of bias and error. These activities are characterized by accounting and controlling for biases. A research project may be an expansion on past work in the field. To test the validity of instruments, procedures, or experiments, research may replicate elements of prior projects or the project as a whole. The primary purposes of basic research (as opposed to applied research) are documentation, discovery, interpretation, and the research and development (R&D) of methods and systems for the advancement of human knowledge. Approaches to research depend on epistemologies, which vary considerably both within and between humanities and sciences. There are several forms of research: scientific, humanities, artistic, economi ...
