CIRF
CIRF (1350 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Brampton, Ontario, Canada, serving Greater Toronto. It is owned by Radio Humsafar and broadcasts a multilingual ethnic radio format, mostly in South Asian languages including in Punjabi. By day, CIRF is powered at 1,000 watts using a non-directional antenna. But to avoid interference to other radio stations on 1350 AM, it reduces power at night to 40 watts. The transmitter is on Atlantic Drive near East Britannia Road in Mississauga. History On October 21, 2015, the CRTC approved Radio Humsafar's application to operate a new ethnic commercial AM radio station in Brampton on the frequency of 1350 kHz. Radio Humsafar is a radio network providing South Asian programming to over 2 million listeners in several major cities around the world. Radio Humsafar's programming is broadcast in the United States, Canada, India, Australia and over the internet worldwide. It was launched in Montreal in July 2000 and is currently heard on radio stations across Canada, India, Australia and the United States. The station broadcasts family oriented programming with a mix of news, music, current issues, comedy shows, kids programs and talk shows 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The evening talk show hosted by Jasvir Sandhu is currently its most popular program. The Canadian Communications Foundation (CCF) is a Canadian nonprofit organization which documents the history of broadcasting in Canada, particularly radio and television.
