Grand Falls, New Brunswick
Grand Falls (french: Grand-Sault) is a town located in Victoria County, New Brunswick, Canada. Grand Falls is situated on the Saint John River. The town derives its name from a waterfall created by a series of rock ledges over which the river drops . On 1 January 2023, Grand Falls will expand, annexing the village of Drummond, the rural community of Saint-André, the local service district of the parish of Grand Falls, and part of the LSD of the parish of Drummond. History In 1686, Monsignor de Saint-Vallier (of Quebec) was the first known person to mention in writing the magnificent falls for which Grand Falls is named. CJCJ-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting from Woodstock, New Brunswick at 104.1 FM. The station is currently owned and operated by Bell Media. The station broadcasts a country format branded as ''Pure Country 104''. History CJCJ originally began broadcasting on 920 kHz in July 1959, and moved to FM in the early 2000s. Originally owned by Carleton-Victoria Broadcasting Limited, it was acquired in 1991 by Radio One Ltd. In 1999, Radio One was acquired by Telemedia, and in 2002, Telemedia was purchased by Standard Broadcasting. CJCJ was one of the stations that Standard in turn sold to Astral Media. In 1989, Carleton-Victoria Broadcasting Co. Ltd. received approval from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to operate two low-power AM transmitters at Plaster Rock on 990 kHz (40 watts), and Perth/Andover on 1140 kHz with 40 watts. Plaster Rock (2016 population: 1,023) is a Canadian village in Victoria County, New Brunswick. The mayor is Tom Eagles. History Plaster Rock’s first settlers were Hezekiah Day and his two brothers, who arrived in 1881. Plaster Rock was incorporated as the Village of Plaster Rock on November 9, 1966. Hezekiah Day gave Plaster Rock its name based on the hill on the other side of the Tobique River – the rock is made up of gypsum, or plaster. The second settlers, Mr. & Mrs. Henry Ridgewell, arrived in 1882. The third settler was a gentleman named David Roulston and his family. A bell is a directly struck idiophone percussion instrument. Woodstock, New Brunswick
Woodstock is a town in Carleton County, New Brunswick, Canada on the Saint John River, 103 km upriver from Fredericton at the mouth of the Meduxnekeag River. It is near the Canada–United States border and Houlton, Maine and the intersection of Interstate 95 and the Trans-Canada Highway making it a transportation hub.
