CHL Humanitarian Of The Year Award
The CHL Humanitarian of the Year Award is given out annually to the Canadian Hockey League player judged to have made the most notable contribution to his community in a humanitarian sense. It is chosen from the winners of the QMJHL Humanitarian of the Year, the Dan Snyder Memorial Trophy (OHL), or the Doug Wickenheiser Memorial Trophy (WHL). Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. In ice hockey, two opposing teams use ice hockey sticks to control, advance and shoot a closed, vulcanized, rubber disc called a " puck" into the other team's goal. Each goal is worth one point. Philippe Sauvé
Philippe Sauvé (born February 27, 1980) is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender who last played with the Hamburg Freezers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. Sauvé played in the National Hockey League for the Colorado Avalanche, Calgary Flames, Phoenix Coyotes and the Boston Bruins. Playing career As a youth, Sauvé played in the 1993 and 1994 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with a minor ice hockey team from the Mille-Îles neighbourhood of Laval, Quebec. The Owen Sound Attack are a junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League based in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. Based in Owen Sound since 1989, and operating under the current name since 2000, the Attack play their home games at the J.D. McArthur Arena inside the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. History The Owen Sound OHL franchise was born when the Holody family moved the Guelph Platers to the city for the 1989–90 OHL season. The team kept the name of Owen Sound Platers. The Owen Sound Attack were born in the late summer of the year 2000 as a community-based OHL franchise. When the Holody family decided to sell the Owen Sound Platers buyers were sought from any city. Mike Angelidis
Mike Angelidis (born June 27, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre who last played with HCB South Tyrol in the Austrian Hockey League (EBEL). He has formerly played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Playing career Undrafted, Angelidis made his professional debut during the 2006–07 season playing in 24 games in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades, where he scored 10 goals and 18 points. Colin Fraser (ice Hockey)
Colin Fraser (born January 28, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre. He played in the National Hockey League for the Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings and the St. Louis Blues. Fraser is a three-time Stanley Cup champion, having won the Cup with the Blackhawks in 2010, and the Kings in 2012 and 2014. Erie Otters
The Erie Otters are a Major junior ice hockey team based in Erie, Pennsylvania. They are members of the Midwest division of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), one of only three American teams in the circuit. The team name refers to the North American river otter common to Lake Erie. Christopher Campoli (born July 9, 1984) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player for the Dundas Real McCoys of the Ontario Hockey Association's Allan Cup Hockey. He played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Ottawa Senators, New York Islanders, and Montreal Canadiens in the National Hockey League (NHL). Brandon Wheat Kings
The Brandon Wheat Kings are a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Brandon, Manitoba. They are members of the Western Hockey League (WHL) since joining the league in the 1967–68 season. Previously, they played in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL), with the exception of two seasons in the mid-1960s when they played in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). The team was a successor to the Brandon Wheat City senior team that participated in the 1904 Stanley Cup Challenge, losing to the Ottawa Senators. The team was known as the Brandon Elks for a short time in the late 1930s. Spokane Chiefs
The Spokane Chiefs are a major junior ice hockey team that plays in the Western Hockey League based out of Spokane, Washington. The team plays its home games at the Spokane Arena. Their uniforms are similar to those of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens. Spokane consistently ranks in the top 10 in the Canadian Hockey League in attendance. Brandin Cote
Brandin Cote (born April 21, 1981) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey centre who last played for the Fischtown Pinguins in the German 2nd Bundesliga in 2008–09. In 2002, Cote signed with the Chicago Blackhawks as a free agent. He played three seasons for Norfolk then moved to England to play for the Nottingham Panthers. He returned for one more season with Norfolk, then played for the Texas Wildcatters. He returned to Europe for two seasons before retiring in 2009. Cote was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He played junior for the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League. Following his pro career, Cote played one season of senior hockey with the Bentley Generals of the Chinook Hockey League.
