CHI St. Luke's Health
St. Luke's Health is a health system located in the Greater Houston area. It is a part of one of the largest health systems and the second largest faith-based health system in the United States, Catholic Health Initiatives. CHI St. Luke's Health's facilities have been recognized as some of the best in the nation. History St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital was founded by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas in 1954 and was one of the first hospitals established in the Texas Medical Center. In 1962, Denton A. Cooley founded the Texas Heart Institute, which became affiliated with St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital. It was there that Denton A. Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) is a national Catholic healthcare system, with headquarters in Englewood, Colorado. CHI is a nonprofit, faith-based health system formed, in 1996, through the consolidation of three Catholic health systems. It is one of the nation's largest healthcare systems. The Texas Medical Center (TMC) is a medical district and neighborhood in south-central Houston, Texas, United States, immediately south of the Museum District and west of Texas State Highway 288. David John Sugarbaker (August 5, 1953 – August 29, 2018) was an American physician who was chief of the division of general thoracic surgery and the director of the Baylor College of Medicine Lung Institute at CHI St. Luke's Health– Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston, Texas. He was an internationally recognized thoracic surgeon specializing in the treatment of mesothelioma, the surgical management of malignant pleural mesothelioma, and treatment of complex thoracic cancers. David John Haskins (born 24 April 1957, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England), better known as David J, is a British alternative rock musician, producer, and writer. He is the bassist for the gothic rock band Bauhaus and for Love and Rockets.
