CFPT-FM (106.5 FM broadcasting, FM, "106.5 Elmnt FM") is an Indigenous peoples in Canada, indigenous radio station in Toronto. Owned by First Peoples Radio, a subsidiary of the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN), it broadcasts music and Talk radio, talk programming targeting the First Nations in Canada, First Nations community, with the former focusing upon both contemporary hit radio, contemporary and indigenous musicians. The station launched on October 24, 2018 as a replacement for the city's Aboriginal Voices Radio Network, Voices Radio station. The Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN, stylized aptn) is a Canadian specialty channel. Established in 1992 and maintained by governmental funding to broadcast in Canada's northern territories, APTN acquired a national broadcast licence in 1999. It airs and produces programs made by, for and about Indigenous peoples in Canada and the United States. Joanne Gairy, better known by her stage name Jemeni, is a singer, actress, writer, activist, broadcaster and community worker. She was born in Grenada and grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario and now lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She studied Radio and Television Arts at Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University), Toronto. She is a hip-hop poet, and works in Canadian broadcasting. Janet Panic (born June 17, 1970) is a Métis singer, guitarist, and songwriter. She has released a number of albums of original music as a member of the band Phew (1994–1995), 10 Ft. Henry (1996–1997) and under her own name. Panic is best known for the 10 Ft. Aboriginal Voices Radio Network (rebranded as Voices Radio in 2014) was a Canadian radio network, which primarily broadcast music programming and other content of interest to aboriginal people. As of June 2015, the network operated stations in Toronto, Ontario (where its studios and offices were located), Calgary and Edmonton in Alberta, and Vancouver, British Columbia. All of its stations were licensed as rebroadcasters of its flagship station, CKAV-FM in Toronto. Owned by First Peoples Radio, a subsidiary of the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN), it broadcasts music and talk programming targeting the First Nations community. Music is both from mainstream and indigenous artists. CFPO-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 9,100 watts.
