CE Operário Várzea-Grandense
Clube Esportivo Operário Várzea-Grandense, often known as CEOV, Operário Várzea-Grandense, Operário-VG or simply Operário, is a Brazilian football team from Várzea Grande, Mato Grosso, founded on 1 May 1949. History The club was founded on 1 May 1949, and won their first title in 1964 after lifting the Campeonato Mato-Grossense. The club won two consecutive Mato-Grossense titles in 1967 and 1968, before repeating the feat in 1972 and 1973. Despite facing financial troubles in the 1980s, CEOV was the last club to play in a Série A campaign before the promotion of Cuiabá in 2021. In that decade, the club lifted three Mato-Grossense titles in a row, in 1985, 1986 and 1987. They also played in the Série B and in the Série C during the 90s, winning two consecutive Mato-Grossense titles in 1994 and 1995 before being licensed due to high debts. Operário Futebol Clube, often known as Operário FC or Operário Ltda. is a Brazilian Association football, football team from Várzea Grande, Mato Grosso, Várzea Grande, Mato Grosso, founded on 8 August 2002. Estádio Governador José Fragelli, usually known as Verdão, was a multi-purpose stadium in Cuiabá, Brazil. The stadium, used mostly for football matches, holds 40,000, and was built in 1976. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C is the third tier of the Brazilian football league system. Unlike the first and second divisions, the Série C is not played in a double round robin system, arguably because many participating teams lack the financial conditions to travel long distances. Thus, the tournament is organized in regional groups and the table prevents teams from distant states from playing each other in the initial rounds. Until 2008, any professional team could apply, but only 64 teams would take part in the tournament.
