CEP63
Centrosomal protein of 63 kDa is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''CEP63'' gene. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found, but their biological validity has not been determined. Function This gene encodes a protein with six coiled-coil domains. The protein is localized to the centrosome, a non-membraneous organelle that functions as the major microtubule-organizing center in animal cells. Recent computational analysis revealed pathogenic property of L61P point mutation in CEP63 protein that affected its native structural conformation. DISC1
Disrupted in schizophrenia 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''DISC1'' gene. In coordination with a wide array of interacting partners, DISC1 has been shown to participate in the regulation of cell proliferation, differentiation, migration, neuronal axon and dendrite outgrowth, mitochondrial transport, fission and/or fusion, and cell-to-cell adhesion. Several studies have shown that unregulated expression or altered protein structure of DISC1 may predispose individuals to the development of schizophrenia, clinical depression, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric conditions. A coiled coil is a structural motif in proteins in which 2–7 alpha helix, alpha-helices are coiled together like the strands of a rope. (Protein dimer, Dimers and Protein trimer, trimers are the most common types.) In cell biology, the centrosome (Latin centrum 'center' + Greek sōma 'body') (archaically cytocentre) is an organelle that serves as the main microtubule organizing center (MTOC) of the animal cell, as well as a regulator of cell-cycle progression. The centrosome provides structure for the cell. The centrosome is thought to have evolved only in the metazoan lineage of eukaryotic cells. Microtubules are polymers of tubulin that form part of the cytoskeleton and provide structure and shape to eukaryotic cells.
