CD Acero
Club Deportivo Acero ('Steel Sporting Club' in Spanish) is a Spanish football team based in Puerto de Sagunto (an urban nucleus in Sagunto), in the Valencian Community, Spain. Founded in 1919 it plays in Tercera División RFEF – Group 6, holding home games at ''Estadio El Fornàs'', which has a capacity of 4,500 spectators. History Football reached Sagunto city when the Basque sailors who docked at the commercial port played the game with the locals. In 1919 Sporting Club was founded, bringing the colors of the Athletic Club in honor of the steel company. In the early 1920s the club began to play against such popular teams, like Valencia CF or Levante UD, thus developing in a more professional way. Sagunto
Sagunto ( ca-valencia, Sagunt) is a municipality of Spain, located in the province of Valencia, Valencian Community. It belongs to the modern fertile ''comarca'' of Camp de Morvedre. It is located c. 30 km north of the city of Valencia, close to the Costa del Azahar on the Mediterranean Sea. It is best known for the remains of the ancient Iberian and Roman city of ''Saguntum''. The siege of Saguntum in 219 BC was the trigger of the Second Punic War between the Carthaginians and the Romans. The 1947–48 Tercera División was the 12th edition of the Spanish national third tier. Format 8 geographic groups of 14 clubs (112 in total) participated. The 8 group champions qualified for the Fase Intermedia which comprised 2 groups of four clubs playing a round robin.
