Club Baloncesto Collado Villalba was a professional basketball club based in Collado Villalba, Spain. History CB Collado Villalba was founded in 1922. During its first years in Liga ACB, the club had the sponsorship of the actual BBVA bank, in that years known as ''Bancobao'' and later as ''BBV''. In the 1990–91 ACB season, Jesús Gil acquires the team and converts it in the basketball section of Atlético de Madrid, but it ceased the next season. After the 1991–92 ACB season, where the team avoided the relegation to Primera B, CB Collado Villalba was dissolved due to its financial trouble. Collado Villalba () is a municipality of the Community of Madrid, in central Spain. It is located 40.3 kilometres north-west of the city of Madrid, at an altitude of 917 meters above sea level. 1988–89 ACB Season
The 1988–89 ACB season was the 6th season of the Liga ACB, after changing its name. The number of teams increased from 16 to 24. The format also changed. The 24 teams were divided into two groups of 12. After playing a league, 24 teams were divided into three groups of eight teams each. The first six of the white group and the champions of the red and blue groups played for the title. FC Barcelona won their third ACB title, and their 6th overall. It was their third ACB title in a row. Rory Wilbur White (born August 16, 1959) is an American former professional basketball player. A 6'8" (2.03 m) and 210 lb (95 kg) power forward, he played collegiately at the University of South Alabama, and was the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year in 1979. He was selected with the 17th pick of the fourth round of the 1982 NBA draft by the Phoenix Suns. Walter Berry (born May 14, 1964) is an American former professional basketball player. After spending three seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), he had a very successful career in various leagues around Europe and the EuroLeague. Berry played the power forward position. Out of New York, Berry was originally nicknamed "The Truth." College career Berry played college basketball for his hometown college, St. John's University, with the then called St. John's Redmen. At St. John's he won the John Wooden Award, the Big East Men's Basketball Player of the Year award, plus the USBWA College Player of the Year award in 1986, after averaging 23 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. Juan Antonio Orenga Forcada (born July 29, 1966 in Castellón de la Plana) is a retired Spanish professional basketball player, and a current professional basketball coach.
