CBOT-DT (channel 4) is a CBC Television station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is part of a twinstick with Ici Radio-Canada Télé station CBOFT-DT (channel 9). Both stations share studios at the CBC Ottawa Production Centre on Queen Street (across from the Confederation Line light rail station) in Downtown Ottawa, alongside the main corporate offices of the CBC; CBOT-DT's transmitter is located on the Ryan Tower at Camp Fortune in Chelsea, Quebec, north of Gatineau. CBOFT-DT (channel 9) is an Ici Radio-Canada Télé station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is part of a twinstick with CBC Television station CBOT-DT (channel 4). CBC Television (also known as CBC TV) is a Canadian English-language broadcast television network owned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the national public broadcaster. A duopoly (or twinstick, referring to "stick" as jargon for a radio tower) is a situation in television and radio broadcasting in which two or more stations in the same city or community share common ownership. Lloyd Robertson (born January 19, 1934) is a Canadian journalist and former news anchor who is special correspondent on CTV's weekly magazine series, '' W5''. Robertson served as the chief anchor and senior editor of CTV's national evening newscast, '' CTV News with Lloyd Robertson,'' until September 2011, when he retired from the ''CTV National News'' team. He co-hosted ''W5'' from 2011 to 2016. CBO-FM is a Canadian radio station. It is the CBC Radio One station in Ottawa, Ontario, airing at 91.5 FM, and serves much of Eastern Ontario through a network of relay transmitters. CBO's Ottawa-area transmitter is located in Camp Fortune, Quebec, while its studios are located in the CBC Ottawa Broadcast Centre on Queen Street (across from the Confederation Line light rail station) in Downtown Ottawa. History CNRO was launched on February 27, 1924 as CKCH a Canadian National Railway radio network station, and adopted the CNRO call sign on July 16, 1924, in order to indicate its network affiliation. The station was the first to broadcast the time signal from the Dominion Observatory in Ottawa, doing so daily at 9 p.m. It operated on 690 AM and later switched to 600. CBC Ottawa Production Centre
The CBC Ottawa Production Centre is the headquarters of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The office and studio complex is located on Queen Street in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The building hosts the originating studios for both the CBC's English and French language operations in the National Capital Region. The building was opened in 2004, and contains approximately of office space. Design and construction The Ottawa Production Centre was built by and is owned by Morguard Investments. Not all of it is leased by the CBC, with the top floors occupied by the House of Commons administration (Information Services). Ultra high frequency (UHF) is the ITU designation for radio frequency, radio frequencies in the range between 300 megahertz (MHz) and 3 gigahertz (GHz), also known as the decimetre band as the wavelengths range from one meter to one tenth of a meter (one decimeter). Canadian English (CanE, CE, en-CA) encompasses the varieties of English native to Canada. According to the 2016 census, English was the first language of 19.4 million Canadians or 58.1% of the total population; the remainder spoke French (20.8%) or other languages (21.1%). Ian Black (meteorologist)
Ian Black (born January 12, 1962retired June 16, 2022 after a career as a meteorologist for CBOT, the CBC outlet in Ottawa. Black joined the local evening news broadcast along with anchor Peter Van Dusen in 1989 and holds the position today. He is a certified broadcaster with the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society, serving as the only CMOS-certified broadcaster in Ottawa and one of only a few to perform local forecasting duties. Past work In addition to providing extensive forecasting on '' CBC News: Ottawa at Six'', Black gave regular updates on the CBO-FM program ''All in a Day''.
