CASL Elite
CASL Elite is an American amateur association football, soccer team based in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. Founded in 2009, the team plays in Region III of the United States Adult Soccer Association, a network of amateur leagues at the fifth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. The team plays its home games at WakeMed Soccer Park in nearby Cary, North Carolina. The team's colors are red, white, and black. History CASL Elite was founded in 2009 by members of the Raleigh-based Capital Area Soccer League, and was originally intended to be a loose group which would train with and play against the upper level Capital Area Soccer League youth teams, including the club’s CASL Chelsea teams that play in the US Soccer Federation Development Academy. WakeMed Soccer Park
WakeMed Soccer Park is a major soccer complex in Cary, North Carolina, United States. It consists of a purpose-built, soccer-specific main stadium called Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park, two lighted practice fields, and four additional fields. Sahlen's Stadium and the two lighted fields (2 & 3) are all FIFA international regulation size (). Sahlen's Stadium seats 10,000, while Field 2 also has 1,000 permanent bleacher seats. The complex also sports a full-length, nationally recognized cross-country course and houses the offices of Triangle Professional Soccer. Originally opened in 2002 as the home of the Carolina Courage of the WUSA, WakeMed Soccer Park is now the home to North Carolina FC of the United Soccer League and the North Carolina Courage of the National Women's Soccer League. Charleston Battery
The Charleston Battery are an American professional association football, soccer club based in Charleston, South Carolina, and member of the USL Championship. Founded in 1993, the Battery are one of the oldest continuously operating professional soccer clubs in the United States, tied with the Richmond Kickers. Charleston are one of the more successful lower division soccer clubs in the United States, having won the USISL Pro League in 1996, the USL A-League in 2003, and the final season of the USL Second Division in 2010. In 2012, the team won the USL Pro Championship, winning its fourth league title in club history. Tim Merritt
Tim Merritt (born June 28, 1982 in Gig Harbor, Washington) is an American soccer player who currently plays for USASA amateur team CASL Elite. Career High school and college Merritt attended Bellarmine Preparatory School and played college soccer at the University of North Carolina from 2001 to 2004. Merritt was a two-time second-team All-ACC selection at defender for Carolina and was a member of the Tar Heels’ 2001 NCAA Championship team. He scored 10 goals and had 11 assists for 31 points over his collegiate career. During his college years he also played with Carolina Dynamo in the USL Premier Development League, and was named to the PDL All-Central Conference team in 2004. Chris McClellan (born May 9, 1981 in Boulder, Colorado) is an American soccer player who currently plays for USASA amateur team CASL Elite. Career Youth and college McClellan played college soccer at Colorado Christian University where he still holds the single season records for most saves (145 in 2002) and goals against average (1.44 in 1999) as well as the career records for saves (486), goals against average (1.60), and shutouts (14). Steven Curfman (born October 8, 1986 in Manassas, Virginia) is a former American soccer player who is currently a youth coach for North Carolina FC. Career College and Amateur Curfman grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, attended Athens Drive High School and played club soccer with the Capital Area Soccer League before being selected to the U.S. Soccer U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Florida in 2002. Evan Brown (born May 1, 1987 in Raleigh, North Carolina) is an American retired soccer player. Career High school Brown attended Millbrook High School, where he was a three-year letter winner as well as a three time academy all conference player. He was named All-VI Conference twice and earned all-region player in his senior year. He played club soccer for Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) for head coach Bruce Talbot, with whom he captured four state championships, a regional championship and a national finals berth, as well as a pair of Disney Soccer Showcase Titles. Brown played college soccer at Wake Forest University from 2005 to 2008, finishing his career ranked sixth in games played with 89. John Ball (born November 5, 1972 in Newtown, Connecticut) is an American soccer player who most recently played for the PASL team Cleveland Freeze. He has an extensive career, playing both indoor and outdoor soccer. He spent one season in Major League Soccer with the Chicago Fire and was a part of the United States national futsal team which went to the second round of the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Championship.
