The CAN Bayonet 2000/2005 is the current up-to-date standard multi-purpose infantry bayonet of the Canadian Armed Forces, Issued to match the current C7/C8 pattern service rifles as the successor of C7 Nella Bayonet after replacing the C7 Nella Bayonet after 2004. Description The CAN bayonet 2000/2005 is a German design, Canadian bayonet manufactured under license by Colt Canada, it has the wire cutting abilities while functioning as a combat bayonet. A NATO Stock Number, or National Stock Number (NSN) as it is known in the US, is a 13-digit numeric code used by the NATO military alliance, identifying all the 'standardized material items of supply' as they have been recognized by all member states of NATO. M7 Bayonet
The M7 bayonet (NSN 1095-00-017-9701) is a bayonet that was used by the U.S. military for the M16 rifle, it can also be used with the M4 carbine as well as many other assault rifles, carbines and combat shotguns. It can be used as a fighting knife and utility tool. It was introduced in 1964, when the M16 rifle entered service during the Vietnam War.
