Charleston Area Medical Center
Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) is the name of a complex of hospitals in Charleston, West Virginia, formed via a merger of previously independent facilities. It is the state's largest hospital. Charleston Area Medical Center is the primary medical facility for the city of Charleston. There is a combined total of 838 staffed beds between three facilities. In 2008, there were 98,103 emergency department visits, 3,131 births, 33,132 ambulatory surgeries, 557,867 outpatient visits, along with 35,294 inpatient discharges, 26,597 general operating room procedures, 1,687 open-heart bypass procedures and 8,294 procedures performed in cardiac cath labs. CAMC consists of five locations: Memorial Hospital, General Hospital, Women and Children's Hospital, Teays Valley Hospital, and Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. Carlsberg Meridian Telescope
The Carlsberg Meridian Telescope (formerly the Carlsberg Automatic Meridian Circle) is a decommissioned meridian circle telescope located at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory in the Canary Islands. It was dedicated to high-precision optical astrometry and operated from May 1984 to September 2013. The CMT's 20 years of photometric data was studied to understand atmosphere extinction. Up to 2003, 11 catalogs were published and it had been given various upgrades since its installation in 1984. Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) also known as computer-aided modeling or computer-aided machining is the use of software to control machine tools in the manufacturing of work pieces. This is not the only definition for CAM, but it is the most common; CAM may also refer to the use of a computer to assist in all operations of a manufacturing plant, including planning, management, transportation and storage. Its primary purpose is to create a faster production process and components and tooling with more precise dimensions and material consistency, which in some cases, uses only the required amount of raw material (thus minimizing waste), while simultaneously reducing energy consumption. American Mathematics Competitions
The American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) are the first of a series of competitions in secondary school mathematics that determine the United States team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). The selection process takes place over the course of roughly four stages. At the last stage, the Mathematical Olympiad Summer Program (MOP), the United States coaches select six members to form the IMO team. The United States Math Team of 1994 is the first of the only two teams ever to achieve a perfect score (all six members earned perfect marks), and is colloquially known as the "dream team".
