Śródmieście ( meaning "city centre", "downtown") is the central borough ''(dzielnica)'' of the city of Warsaw. The best known neighbourhoods in the borough are the Old Town (''Stare Miasto'') and New Town (''Nowe Miasto''). Śródmieście (; means "city centre"; csb, Westrzódgardzé) is a district (dzielnica) of the city of Gdańsk, Poland. Śródmieście is commonly referred to as Main City, Old City, or simply Gdańsk, since the quarter is equivalent to the traditional area of the city. Location The quarter is located in the centre-eastern part of Gdańsk, on the River Motława to its west and east. To its north-east, the quarter borders the Przeróbka quarter on Port Island by the Martwa Wisła River. To its south and east, the quarter is bordered by the Opływ Motławy, via which the quarter borders the quarters of Rudniki, Olszynka and Orunia-Św. Wojciech-Lipce. Śródmieście ( meaning "city centre", "downtown") is the central borough ''(dzielnica)'' of the city of Gdynia. It borders the following districts: Oksywie, Obłuże, Pogórze (all three from the north), Chylonia, Leszczynki, Grabówek (all three from the west), Forest Plots and Kamienna Góra (from the south), and the Baltic Sea. History Gdynia City Center was established mainly in the 1920s and 1930s. The modernist character of the center was created by such architects as Adam Kuncewicz and Roman Feliński. Gdynia's downtown survived the war practically undamaged. During the Nazi occupation, the Germans changed the name of the district to ''Stadtmitte''. Gdynia ( ; ; german: Gdingen (currently), (1939–1945); csb, Gdiniô, , , ) is a city in northern Poland and a seaport on the Baltic Sea coast. Śródmieście ("city centre", German: Innenstadt) is a district (dzielnica) of the city of Katowice in southern Poland. It has an area of 3.81 km2 and in 2007 had 35,927 inhabitants. This is the most urbanized part of the city, home of Silesian Parliament, Silesian Museum and Silesian Library along with international companies like ING or CITI Bank. There are several consulates in the city centre. The master plan of Central Katowice was designed by Friedrich Wilhelm Grundman in the second half of the 19th century.
