İskenderun ( ar, الإسكندرونة, el, Αλεξανδρέττα "Little Alexandria"), historically known as Alexandretta and Scanderoon, is a city in Hatay Province on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. The term phoenix club is used in professional team sports to refer to a new entity that is set up to replace that of a club that has failed in business terms but not in sporting terms, and generally involves the continuation of the sporting activity. In some cases, the phoenix club is created by the supporters of the club which has ended, or seems to be on the point of ending. İskenderun FK, formerly known as Erzinspor and Erzin Belediyespor, is a football club based in İskenderun, Turkey. The club was founded in 1978 as Erzinspor in Erzin, Turkey, Erzin. İskenderun FK competes in the TFF Second League. The club were promoted to the TFF Third League after the 2013–14 season by defeating 44 Malatyaspor in the playoffs, after they finished 1st in the 3rd group of the Turkish Regional Amateur League. The team was bought by Şaban Hakan Bolat during the season, and in 2021, İskenderunspor A.Ş. took its name and went to restructuring. The TFF 1. Lig, officially known as Spor Toto 1. Lig for sponsorship reasons, is the second level of the Turkish football league system. The league was founded in 2001 as the ''Turkish Second League Category A'' after the reorganization of the Second Football League, which was the second level of the Turkish league system between 1963 and 2001. The league was called ''Türk Telekom Lig A'' in the 2006–2007 season, and was renamed to ''TFF First League'' prior to the 2007–08 season. As of 16 January 2008 the league was renamed as Bank Asya 1.
