Yanchang County () is a county under the administration of the prefecture-level city of Yan'an, in the northeast of Shaanxi Province, bordering Shanxi Province across the Yellow River to the east. It has a land area of , and a population of 158,000. Administrative divisions Yanchang County consists of one subdistrict and seven towns. These are then further divided into 159 administrative villages. Qilicun Subdistrict () is the county's sole subdistrict. Qilicun Subdistrict host's the county's administrative offices. The river flows from its source, the Xingzi River () in Jingbian County, in the prefecture-level city Yulin, Shaanxi, Yulin, and then flows through neighboring Yan'an, finally flowing into the larger Yellow River in Yanchang County, Yan'an. Red Tourism
Red tourism () is a subset of domestic and international tourism in current or former 'red' countries such as China and Russia in which people visit locations with historical significance to their "red" past. In China, Chinese people visit locations with historical significance to Chinese Communism "to rekindle their long-lost sense of class struggle and proletarian principles." The Government began actively supporting red tourism in 2005 to promote the "national ethos" and socioeconomic development in those areas, which are typically rural and poorer than East China. Chinese Paper Cutting
The art of paper cutting ( zh, t=剪纸, p=jiǎnzhǐ) in China may date back to the 2nd century CE, when paper was invented by Cai Lun, a court official of the Eastern Han Dynasty. As paper became more affordable, paper-cutting became one of the most important types of Chinese folk art. Later, this art form spread to other parts of the world, with different regions adopting their own cultural styles. Because the cut-outs are often used to decorate doors and windows, they are sometimes referred to as zh, t=窗花, p=chuāng huā, labels=no, "window flowers" or "window paper-cuts". These cut-paper decorations are often glued to the exterior of windows, so the light from the inside shines through the negative space of the cutout.
