Bellevue, Texas
Bellevue is a city in Clay County, Texas, United States. It is part of the Wichita Falls metropolitan statistical area. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. History The sparsely settled area developed around 1882 by the Ortons, when it was selected as a railroad shipping station. The community has had several declines and resurges. In 1902, the community incorporated, but then it was almost wiped out by a tornado in 1906. Now it is a small growing town. Halsell, Texas
Halsell is an unincorporated area, unincorporated community located 10 miles southwest of Henrietta, Texas, Henrietta in west central Clay County, Texas, Clay County, Texas, United States. History Established in 1900 and named for a local rancher, the town of Halsell received a post office in 1901. The town remained a small, obscure ranching community until the Southwestern Railway Company established a rail line connecting Henrietta and Archer City, Texas, Archer City in 1910. It became a stop on the line and for almost a decade the small town flourished, reaching a population of 600 by 1920. The rail line, however, was short-lived and the reduction of passenger travel forced the line into bankruptcy by 1921, spelling the end of Halsell's growth. The town's post office closed in 1919. Dundee is an unincorporated community located in Archer County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 12 in 2010. Dundee is located within the Wichita Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Several families were already living in the area when the town was laid out on the T Fork Ranch between 1886 and 1890. In 1890 the Wichita Valley Railway Company established a line between Wichita Falls and Seymour and constructed a three-story hotel at the station the railroad's president is said to have named for Dundee, Scotland. Bluegrove, Texas
Bluegrove is an unincorporated community on Farm to Market Road 172 11 miles southeast of Henrietta in central Clay County, Texas, United States. Early settlers named the area for the post oak trees that appeared blue from a distance at certain times of the day. The Bluegrove Baptist Church was established in 1878 by families living in the area around what would become the town, and is the oldest permanent Baptist church in Wichita, Archer, and Clay Counties. The church originally met in the school before constructing a church building at its present location in 1893. J.L. Russell was among the earliest settlers before there was a town, homesteading a mile south of the present day community. Windthorst is a town in Archer County, Texas, Archer and Clay County, Texas, Clay counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is part of the Wichita Falls, Texas Wichita Falls metropolitan area, Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 409 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. The town is named for Ludwig Windthorst, a Catholic statesman in Germany. Megargel, Texas
Megargel ( ) is a town in Archer County, Texas, United States. It is part of the Wichita Falls, Texas metropolitan statistical area. Its population was 203 at the 2010 census. The town is named for Roy C. Megargel, the president of the railroad that developed the town. History Megargel was established as a result of the Gulf, Texas and Western Railroad extending services to Jacksboro and Seymour. The town was established in 1910. The community developed multiple businesses within three months because the purchasers of land who established businesses 60 days after acquiring their lots received discounts as an incentive to do so. The town had 350 residents in 1914. By 1923, the population had increased to 475. Around that time, H. Sheets drilled a new oil well in the Swastika oilfield, causing a population increase.
