Wayne is a town in Lafayette County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 490 at the 2010 census. History The town was named in honor of "Mad" Anthony Wayne, a Revolutionary War general. Geography The town occupies the southeast corner of Lafayette County, and is bordered to the east by Green County and to the south by Jo Davies and Stephenson counties in Illinois. The village of South Wayne, a separate municipality, is surrounded by the northeast part of the town. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town of Wayne has a total area of , of which , or 0.10%, are water. The Pecatonica River, a tributary of the Rock River, flows from west to east across the northern part of the town. "Wayne's World" was originally a recurring sketch from the NBC television series ''Saturday Night Live''. The first "Wayne's World" sketch appeared in the 13th ''Saturday Night Live'' episode of the Saturday Night Live season 14, 1988–1989 season, on February 18, 1989. Fountains of Wayne is an American Rock music, rock band that formed in New York City in 1995. The band included founding members Chris Collingwood, Adam Schlesinger, Jody Porter, and Brian Young (drummer), Brian Young. They released six albums from 1996 to 2011 before effectively disbanding in 2013. They are best known for the Grammy-nominated song "Stacy's Mom". In church governance, a diocese or bishopric is the ecclesiastical district under the jurisdiction of a bishop. Wayne State College
Wayne State College (WSC) is a public college in Wayne, Nebraska. It is part of the Nebraska State College System and enrolls 4,202 students. The college opened as a public normal school in 1910 after the state purchased the private Nebraska Normal College (established 1891). The State Normal College became State Normal School and Teacher's College in 1921. This was changed to Nebraska State Teachers College at Wayne in 1949 and the present name was adopted in 1963. The Wayne National Forest is located in the Appalachian part of the US state of Ohio, in the Unglaciated Allegheny Plateau. It is the first and only national forest in Ohio. Waynesborough, also known as the Gen. Anthony Wayne House, is a historic house museum at 2049 Waynesborough Road in Easttown Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Built in 1724 and repeatedly enlarged, it was for many years the home of American Revolutionary War general Anthony Wayne (1745–1796).
