Waratah-Wynyard Council is a Local government in Australia, local government body in Tasmania, situated in the north-west of the state. History and attributes On 2 April 1993, the municipalities of Waratah and Wynyard were amalgamated to form the Waratah-Wynyard Council. There had been suggestion of renaming the council to Table Cape, which was the former name of the Wynyard Council until 1945, but this move failed at the ballot box. Waratah-Wynyard is classified as rural, agricultural and very large under the Australian Classification of Local Governments. The 2016 census has a population of nil for the state suburb of Guildford. History Guildford was gazetted as a locality in 1974. It was a railway station and junction on the Emu Bay Railway in West Coast Tasmania. It was an important junction to the Waratah Branch (Mount Bischoff) railway, and in turn a connection to the gauge Magnet Tramway (Operating 1901 to 1910s). Doctors Rocks
Doctors Rocks is a rural locality in the local government area (LGA) of Waratah–Wynyard in the North-west and west LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about east of the town of Wynyard. The 2016 census has a population of 85 for the state suburb of Doctors Rocks. It is both a geographical feature and a district on the northwest coast of Tasmania between Somerset and Wynyard. The geographical feature is a basalt outcrop on the beachfront, behind which an escarpment rises to the northwest coast plateau. The terrain forced early road builders to construct a narrow roadway behind the rocks that was the scene of many serious accidents before modern vehicular traffic forced major earth-moving and re-siting of the main road further away from the rocks.
