Vardø
( fi, Vuoreija, fkv, Vuorea, se, Várggát) is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county in the extreme northeastern part of Norway. Vardø is the easternmost town in Norway, more to the east than Saint Petersburg or Istanbul. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Vardø. Two of the larger villages in the municipality are Kiberg and Svartnes. The municipality is the 189th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Vardø is the 284th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 1,897. The municipality's population density is and its population has decreased by 10.6% over the previous 10-year period. The town is located on the island of Vardøya in the Barents Sea, just off the coast of the large Varanger Peninsula. Vardø is the easternmost town in Norway (and in all the Nordic countries), located at 31°E, which is east of Saint Petersburg, Kyiv, and Istanbul. The eastern part of Finnmark is in the same time zone as the rest of the country, but it is more than an hour at odds with daylight hours. Båtsfjord ( sme, Báhcavuotna) is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Båtsfjord (which is the only settlement remaining in the municipality). Båtsfjord Airport is a new, modern airport, located just outside Båtsfjord village. The Hurtigruten coastal express ferry also has regularly-scheduled stops in Båtsfjord village. Finnmark
Finnmark (; se, Finnmárku ; fkv, Finmarku; fi, Ruija ; russian: Финнмарк) was a county in the northern part of Norway, and it is scheduled to become a county again in 2024. On 1 January 2020, Finnmark was merged with the neighbouring county of Troms to form the new Troms og Finnmark county. On 1 January 2024, the county will be demerged back to the counties Finnmark and Troms, after a decision made by parliament on 15 June 2022. Svartnes is a small village and port in Vardø Municipality, Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located on the mainland of the Varanger Peninsula across the Bussesundet strait from the island of Vardøya where the town of Vardø is located. Svartnes has a large harbor and port, protected by a large breakwater. The Vardø Airport, Svartnes is also located here. Kiberg ( fkv, Kiiperi) is a village in Vardø Municipality in eastern Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located on the eastern end of the Varanger Peninsula, along the Barents Sea. Hammerfest or Hámmárfeasta is a town that is also the administrative centre of Hammerfest Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located on the northwestern coast of the island of Kvaløya, just north of the village of Rypefjord and southwest of the village of Forsøl. The town has an ice-free harbor, including the nearby island of Melkøya which is home to a natural gas processing station. It processes gas from the Snøhvit gas field in the Barents Sea. This system of municipalities was created in a bill approved by the Parliament of Norway and signed into law by King Carl Johan on 14 January 1837.
