Valikamam
Valikamam ( ta, வலிகாமம் valikāmam, si, වැලිගම) is one of the three historic regions of Jaffna peninsula in northern Sri Lanka. The other two regions are Thenmarachchi and Vadamarachchi. Alternative spellings include Valikaamam or Valigamam. Etymology Valikamam translates to "the sandy village" in English. It is derived from the Tamil words ''vali'' (sand) and ''kamam'' (village). It is also an equivalent to the ancient name of Jaffna with the same meaning, ''Manaltidar'' or ''Manarridal.'' Divisional Secretariats Of Sri Lanka
The districts of Sri Lanka are divided into administrative sub-units known as ''divisional secretariats''. These were originally based on the feudal counties, the ''korale''s and ''rata''s. They were formerly known as 'D.R.O. Divisions' after the 'Divisional Revenue Officer'. Later the D.R.O.s became 'Assistant Government Agents' and the Divisions were known as 'A.G.A. Divisions'. Currently, the Divisions are administered by a 'Divisional Secretary', and are known as 'D.S. Divisions'. Thenmarachchi
Thenmarachchi is one of the three historic regions of the Jaffna peninsula in northern Sri Lanka. The other two regions are Vadamarachchi and Valikamam. Thenmarachchi is sometimes spelt Thenmarachi, Thenmaraachi or Thenmaraadchi. This area, like the entire Jaffna peninsula, is populated mostly by Tamil people and was for many years under the de facto control of the "Tamil Tigers". Piranpattu ( ta, பிரான்பற்று) is a village in the northern Jaffna District, Sri Lanka. Pandateruppu is the town for the Piranpattu. It is a natural location. . It is one of the famous village in the Valikamam Zone. Etymology Piranpattu is the term which derived from term Pirampaththai ( ta, பிராம்பத்தை). Pirampaththai Means, 50 years before There were too many of Piraya Trees in the village. So, people called the village with the name of Piraya tree and Paththai means it's a kind of grass. So, they called Pirampaththai due to full of Piraya trees. But It's changed as Piranpattu from Pirampaththai before 3 decades of period. People didn't like to call as Pirampaththai.
