UC San Diego Tritons
The UC San Diego Tritons are the athletic teams that represent the University of California, San Diego. UC San Diego has 23 varsity sports teams and offers student participation in a wide range of sports. As of July 1, 2020, all UC San Diego teams participate at the NCAA Division I (DI) level in the Big West Conference. During their time in NCAA Division II and the California Collegiate Athletic Association starting in the 2000–01 season, UCSD placed in the top 5 in the Division II NACDA Directors' Cup standings nine times, including three 2nd-place finishes. NCSA Athletic Recruiting ranked the Tritons as the nation's top Division II program for eight consecutive years. Big West Conference
The Big West Conference (BWC) is an American collegiate athletic conference whose member institutions participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The conference was originally formed on July 1, 1969, as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA), and in 1988 was renamed the Big West Conference. The conference stopped sponsoring college football after the 2000 season. Among the conference's 11 member institutions, 10 are located in California (with 9 located in Southern California alone) and one is located in Hawaii. All of the schools are public universities, with the California schools evenly split between the California State University and the University of California systems. The UC San Diego Tritons men's basketball program represents the University of California San Diego (UC San Diego) in National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I level as a member of the Big West Conference. UC San Diego basketball plays its home games at Liontree Arena in La Jolla. At the end of the 2007–08 season, they won the CCAA tournament and advanced to the first round of the NCAA West Regionals. The UC San Diego Tritons baseball program represents the University of California San Diego at the National Collegiate Athletic Association's NCAA Division II, Division I level as a member of the Big West Conference (Big West). The Tritons have made several appearances in the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship, Division II tournament, mostly under the leadership of former head coach Dan O'Brien (baseball coach), Dan O'Brien. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) is an NCAA Division I conference. The WAC covers a broad expanse of the western United States with member institutions located in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Utah, Washington (state), Washington, and Texas. The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wāhine are the athletic teams that represent the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UH), in Honolulu, Hawaii. Next College Student Athlete (NCSA) is a for-profit organization that connects middle and high school student-athletes with college coaches. NCSA teaches middle and high school student-athletes about the college recruiting process. The NCSA Athletic Recruiting team consists of coaches, scouts and former college athletes. NCSA Athletic Recruiting was included in the 2012 Inc. 5000, and in the top 20 of Crain's Fast Fifty in both 2013 and 2012. The NACDA Directors' Cup, known for sponsorship reasons as the NACDA Learfield Directors' Cup or simply as the Directors' Cup, is an award given annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics to the colleges and universities in the United States with the most success in collegiate athletics.
